Ultrafire wf 501b and cr123

I have a couple of UF 501b lights. I notice they are large enough to take cr 123 batteries. I have a spacer battery, and used one 123 battery. It worked fine, although it would not be as bright as a 18650.

I am assuming that two 123 batteries would fry the lamp. I have not found any specs that state it will work for more than the 4+ volts of the 18650. Anyone tried it?
I like the ability to use 123 batteries. I can imagine circumstances where one might run out of 18650 batteries, and maybe the 123 could be purchased.
Under normal circumstances it would not be necessary to use cr 123 batteries, but I like the option.

I wonder what the run time on low would be with the cr123? Guess I’ll give it a try.

I have on order a TrustFire T2 CREE XP-G R5 LED. I notice that it will take two 123 batteries or rechargeable 123s.
Thanks,
Jerry

The 501 should be fine but take a look at the dropins, some will take 2x cr123 some wont. If you have links to where you got them from would make it easier. There are people here who could tell you if you had pics of the driver too. Thats beyond my skill though.

Thanks. I am not considering modding it. I mentioned the T2 would take 2x cr123. The specs on ebay show that, but Manafont does not show such specs for the T2. Maybe someone can clarify it for me.

If that is it you can use 1 18650, cr123, rcr123 you wont be able to use 2 of them. It says 4.2 voltage range.

Links to where you got them from would help.

The seller on ebay has this posted. I assume that it is from the manufacturer, but I may be wrong.

’Kinda confusing for someone such as me.

It says on the pictures and discription that it can handle two cr123 or rcr123, im not sure how ebay works but you could use it and if it breaks return it. Its possible it has a different driver to handle more voltage.
Run times would be lower with 2x cr123.

If you believe the seller you’re ok to use two cr123.

I might give it a try. I think Trooper Lewis likes the T2. Maybe he will see and respond.
Thanks for the help.

And if it’s broken you can always buy another driver and instal it :), that’s the beauty of these lights.

I would not have a clue how to do that. :frowning:

That’s very simple, I’m pretty sure that you can find enough info on the internet.
