Hello, I have not been on here in a long time or done anything with my lights.(house has takin all the money and time) I had a message from ebay last night that there was a new listing for a Uniquefire UF-T20 OSRAM Infrared IR 940nm Night Vision Zoom LED Flashlight. Has anyone experienced one yet?
Yes i want to know too about IR LED.
Between 850nm and 940nm which one is the best for night vision or camera.
From explanation from this site
940nm is invisible for human eyes
850nm is also completely invisible, but 850nm leds produce some slightly visible red in the flanks of the output spectrum, nothing problematic, a faint glow if you look straight into the led, it can not illuminate anything. Btw, that is not a very accurate text, what they tell is just a bit beside what is really going on ;-)
I see.
I’ve seen several zoomie light with IR light with 850nm and 940nm spectrum on sale at aliexpress, maybe i should take each of them?
What do you think djozz?how about looking for a deal for dual IR LED like you did for the dual uv light?
Fun idea . It would even be more useless to me than the double UV one but that has not stopped me before: at least usefulness does not get in the way of the fun
But seriously, for real expertise on IR flashlights the ones-with-the-guns among us should be consulted: mitko, illuminarium ejaculatum, n10sivern and more.
I went ahead and offered 25 bucks and they excepted my offer. I have 2 of these lights and love them. I have one stock and the other I mod to a 3 mode instead of 5. This one comes as a 3 mode, low, med, high.
A bit worrying is that the Osram name only appears in the item title, nothing about the brand or specific led partnr. in the description or on the pictures...
Over here, jackals and foxes learned somehow to see 850nm wavelenght, so its useless atm, 940 on the other hand still works, most of nowadays 2 and up generation scopes works best with 940 nm
Plus, something VERY VERY important
Those aliexpress and ebay “wanna be ” osram flashlights too often are a total garbage, with an unknown brand emitter
And even if it is an Osram emitter one , especialy if hunting one should change the flashlight driver right in away- those usualy comes with 1-2 mode drivers that have very bad flicker/PWM, and animals can see that, especialy predatory beasts
A modded 105c/or simillar is the best here, of course on an alu pcb that Osram emitter shoudlnt be pushed above 1.2 amps
If they can see 850nm now then they could always see it. It may have just been dim to their eyes and not something that spooked them… until they learned 850 is often followed by gunshots.
LOL……If you noticed the pic I posted of my NV it is from Roland’s youtube the 1.0 I believe. Yes 850nm is better for cameras and will light objects up at much longer ranges but also will spook some animals. 940nm is a much better wave length to use for hunting but you lose distance. I am just learning this stuff and it is a hand full to swallow. I am using NV on an airgun and my limit is 100yrds on small game and 50yrds is pushing it for a yote so the 940nm is perfect for me.
