It would be much harder to find one with modes and a switch though.

I use the USB sticks below, which have a wide continuous range of dimming (vs. 5 levels on Xiaomi), and memory for the last brightness level (if power is not lost). Combined with the USB metal gooseneck extension they make nice gifts, and they can also be carried on a keychain. They seem to be quite durable. They use 5630 LEDs. They’re about $1 on eBay, and the extension is about $1.70. Both can be had for less in quantity (but, strangely, it seems harder to get a good deal on the extensions than on the lights). To find them on eBay search for USB led touch, and USB extension metal.

For the finger touch USB light, isn’t it dangerous to have those electronics exposed like that?

At 5V it’s no problem

That depends on the features you want on the light. Some you can change the color. Some are just simple PCBs with a USB connector.

1. Here’s an Ebay search.
2. 5 color with simple gooseneck.
3. USB with a clear cover and cap over the USB jack.
4. Small USB chip with 3 emitters. No switch.
