USPS packages marked as "delivered", not.

Title says it all. Tracking showed “out for delivery from 9am until shortly after 7pm when it changed to ”delivered”. No package. Second time this month. Is this some scam drivers use to earn bonuses for on time deliveries?

I’ve had some show up delivered I didn’t get in the past too. But I’ve also had it be marked “delivered” then get it the next day. Maybe there is some time guideline they have to “make” for some bonus or quantity and they do this occasionally?

UPS drivers seriously play a game like this with time though, they will run up, ring the bell, and write as fast as they can to leave a ticket on your door and run back to their truck. Last time was rare, I was actually home and I grabbed my jacket and ran out he was already on the way back to the truck. When I got his attention he appeared disappointed and said something like “ah you got me”.

I’ve seen the mailman put nothing but regular mail in the mail box, drive off…go inside, it says delivered……wondered what was up….went back out at 1am….package in the mailbox…WTF? Either a second delivery came by for packages only or they found the package and came back later.

… or maybe your neighbor was “delivered” a nice new flashlight! … but upon realizing that the delivery address listed on the tag was not their address, kindly walked to your house and placed it in your mailbox.

I know my “neighbor” got some nice flashlights a couple of months ago. I often get “stuff” in my mail box, that belongs to the neighbor — which I return. And I get some serious Veteran meds by FedEx and UPS, and they do the old ticket trick and sometimes it take me a week to get critical meds, or I have to “hunt” the delivery guy down the next day, and ask for my medicine. Besides, the VA is dumb enough to pay Overnight to FedEx, for 30 and then, I don’t even get it. I have asked the VA several times if I could just pick the meds up, and they say that “Mail Out” is their preferred method/no option. Then they bitch about expensive after-care for vets

Went to the PO this morning to check as last time the package was sitting on a shelf. No package. Talked to two people and got lots of frowns and “Can we have your number? That carrier won’t be in for another hour.” Heck, it might be at a neighbors but check this. From 9am until just after 7pm tracking said “out for delivery” at 7:15pm it changed to “delivered” with a time stamp of 3:20pm. There were two packages delivered that morning and the time stamp for those was dead on. It so happens that I saw the postal truck driving around the neighbor hood twice between 6:00 and 7:00(I was waiting for it so I could leave) the last being just before the tracking change. Now I’m sure there’s a perfectly logical and upright explaination of what happened:

The postman was banging somebody’s wife and didn’t want to get in trouble for missing 45 seconds worth of deliveries(again) so he pitched them in a dumpster( did I mention garbage pickup was this morning).

What really chapped my hide was both the phone and web services were designed with the specific intent to lead you around in circles and spit you back out without ever getting to actually file a complaint.

yeah, I have the same problem several times last year, even though I was home all day waiting for it and when I checked online it says it was delivered.
the driver knows there’s no way we can contact the post office after 7 pm, I guess they do that to justify the overtime.
some people just have no pride doing their job :Sp

Tol ya ya should have zapped his truck with the Ray gun, ain’t no way I’d have seen the truck drive by and not stop him, not the first time, and certainly not the second time. I’d pull in front of em and block em at their next stop, get out and ask for my package that he just scanned as delivered.

cool suggestion… except one problem, for me the driver didn’t even pass my block when he scanned delivered. :Sp

I just spoke with my mailman a couple of days ago, we had nasty weather and a lot of stuff got held up in Austin. He said even when it’s a light day they are required to run their normal route in case someone has outgoing, a flag up on a box or a package. Gotta run the route, regardless, that’s what he said. So if they didn’t pass your house, they are eligible for the unique opportunity to apply at McDonalds for the floor sweeping position at the minimum wage they’re talking about bumping.

I’m sure my post man knew they can somehow can cheat the system, because even if the consumer complain to their local post office, it will take more than 24hrs to investigate and by then the post man already deliver your package the next day in the morning.
what the post man didn’t realize is… these day we( flasholics) always check our tracking online as we can’t wait to play with our new toy

Federal offense or I might have. 4:00 and still no package. Either dumped, sold or misdelivered. Given he rest, I suspect 1 or 2.

Also Federal offense to steal mail ain’t it? He marked it delivered and didn’t deliver it, isn’t it a Fed Off to lie on the taxdollar payroll? I’d stop em, but then, I know my carrier. He’d see my van coming and say “oh crap! I forgot Dale’s box!” lol

It’s really frustrating when your package doesn’t arrive, lucky, the vast majority get there just fine. I had a package containing money orders delivered to an old address. It took more than 6 weeks to get back to my mailbox, the recipient marked it wrong address. Meanwhile, I had filed for a refund on the money orders.

Most problems are the actual delivery person. We have a really good one, calls me to meet him and avoid my driveway from hell. I even gifted him a light to help late deliveries. OTOH, I once sent a package via UPS COD to a customer. The package was dropped off without collecting the funds. The customer called to let me know. They never came back so he mailed me the funds. I told him he should start buying gold bullion COD. >)
