UV with white light in one package.

Looking for an 18650/21700 type LED flashlight that has both UV and white emitters. I have the Nitecore P20i UV but the UV output is pretty low.

I also have the Acebeam X80 which has great UV output but is not
easily carry-able full time. Just seen the Nicron N72-UV on Amazon but
not sure if the UV output on that one would be any better than the
output of the P20i. Any suggestions? Thanks

The Nitecore CU6 might suit your needs. The UV is true 365nm high-powered LED rather than 5mm. The UV beam has a pretty good throw

The white is is cool XP-G2 (I reflowed mine with LH351D Hi-CRI for extra goodness.)

Thank you, I will check it out.

What purpose do you use UV leds for? if for just making things glow, 365nm is the one you want, if you use it to cure UV resin or glue, 400nm is a better choice, 365 will also work, but not as good. I noticed uv glue that i cure with 365 hardens but still feels sticky a bit, but the same glue cures faster with 400nm and leaves the surface completely dry,

WK30, 'though it’s white/red/UV.

I like the older one which has regular red and 395nm UV, whose “bleed” light looks actually purple.

The new one has deep red (need more power for it to seem as bright as regular red), and its 365nm UV bleeds pale blue-green light instead.

You can get by without a slapped-on ZWB2 filter on the older WK30, but on the new one, it’s a must.

Just for general use, rock hunting, spotting scorpions etc out here in the desert.
I also tried the Rovyon E700U which is UVC but, even though it may kill viruses
at close range, the 270nm emitters were not very useful for fluorescing objects.
My little Coast lenser did a better job with it’s one single UV emitter but the white
light output on that is not very good.

Thanks… this looks good, I went to the Wurkkos web site to order one but, even
though it states it’s in stock, I don’t see a way to place it in my
cart so I can order it.

I sent them and email.

If it doesn’t have to be 18650, Emisar D2.

Thanks, I already have the D2, I wanted another one with more leds.

Hank does sell a mule D4V2 with either 8x3W or 8x5W(!!!) UV LEDs: Emisar D4V2 High Power LED Flashlight

It’s not on the menu, but perhaps if you ask he can get you a D4V2 dual-channel with 4xUV LEDs and the other 4 LEDs as whites of your preference? New Emisar D4V2 with tint ramping and instant channel switching - Tint ramping & instant channel swiching LED Flashlights

The issue is, it’d need to be dual channel, because with both on at once, the white is just going to drown out any fluorescence from the UV. It is doable as a mule, it just needs to be 2 LEDs of each because there is only a dual channel MCPCB for 4 LEDs, unless you were getting a custom board. I’ve not seen one personally, but there’s no reason it wouldn’t work I can think of, try asking Hank if he can make a dual channel mule with the normal 4 LED dual PCB.

Also, you couldn’t have a ZWB filter, so are going to get blue and violet off the UV emitters.

In the interim, I decide to try the Nicron N72UV, I figured for $28, why not give is a shot?

Pretty decent light. beam is more flood than throw, build quality looks very good.
UV output is also very good, much better than that from the P20i UV.

Only thing that concerns me is some of the reviews on Amazon which stated it died
right after the 30 day return window. I am not a fan of extended warranty’s but, would have picked it up for the $6 that they offered on the basic N72. They did not offer it on the N72UV, wonder if that’s a bad sign.

May write Hank a note and see if that D4V2 is available in that config. I was hoping I could get the D4K like that but he responded saying it was not compatible with that optic.

Thanks again for all of the help

I wonder why they fail so quick. Unlike white leds, color leds, as well as uv are more sensitive to overheat, so the same heathsink capacity that works fine with white leds, will not be adequate for uv leds, it may work a bit, but if driven beyond heat removing capacity of the host that uv led requires, it will fail soon.
So yea buy that warranty.

So far so good, I have had it over a month now and no probs. The UV output
on this is the best of the 5 UV capable lights that I have. I also have several
multi color LED flashlights and have not had a problem with any of the color LED’s
failing but, I have only been in the light-collection hobby for about 4-5 years now,
will see how things go as time marches on.
