Vapcell Batteries Capacity Test

I ordered these in August. I’m blown away by the capacities I got on these Vapcells especially the N40. The F56 is also amazing. The G58 didn’t perform as well as I hope and I really want to try the Vapcell F58 but they are sold out. I tested over a hundred different batteries in the past and they are usually at or below the rated capacities but these new wave of Vapcells are generally at or above their rated capacities :+1:

Thanks for the tests. That looks very good indeed.
Would you be able to check the DCIR ? With a couple of measurements from known (samsung moli…etc) new cells as reference if you’ve got some (IIRC the VP4 measures lower than reality).

I think the VP4 is pretty accurate. I can’t find the attachment to measure the internal resistance but here are a few measurements from some popular cells I measured in the past.

In case you haven’t seen it yet Mooch got 31.6mohm. That’s lower than he’s reported for the MJ1, M35A, NCR18650GA, Eve 33V, I think every 18650 over 3000mah, except the 35e.

Seems like everyone is getting the rated capacity out of these guys. Makes you think, why has everyone else been stuck under 3500mah? Although, I suppose the original 35e did come out almost a decade ago. But still.

Thanx - good info. I assume those numbers must be Ohms (vs mOhms), but w/o decimal point. Correct? Just sanity checking (not to suggest that I’m sane!).

In a related matter, I got a pleasant surprise earlier today. Someone posted a reference to a particular Vapcell (F12), and when I looked up the manufacturer info I was surprised to find that they provide very complete specs / data on their stuff. I don’t know if they always have, but they do now, and good on 'em for doing so!! Certain other manufacturers need to step up to the plate and do likewise.

There is a significant difference in the internal resistance measured by the charger, DC IR

Generally, AC internal resistance meter is used to measure AC IR

Vapcell’s products have technical tables and internal resistance ranges, which can be checked on the official website

Some products Mooch and HKJ have also been tested, and relevant information can be consulted

I just got 6 Vapcell F12 14500 cells . I measured the capacity on my Mc3000. I used a charge rate of 0.6 amps. Termination at 4.2V. Discharge at 200 mAh. Cutoff 2.7 V (I could have gone to 2.5 V and got a little more out of these)I was pleasantly surprised that they all tested close to their rated capacity. At least closer than I am used to.

Again, I think had I used 2.5V for discharge termination and adjusted the discharge reduce setting a bit, they may have (except for one) actually made their rating of 1250 mAh. (these are all close enough that I don’t feel the need re-run the tests to nurse a few mAh out of them). With this particular MC3000 that is rare. ~98% of rated capacity (92% in the worst case, though I do wish the outlier was closer to the rest) is great. So Good Job Vapcell !!

Thanx for posting this! Thanks to VC for being ‘professional’ enough to publish a proper discharge graph for us, one can always look at those and do some visual interpolation (as needed) to correct for variations in discharge current and cutoff voltage that we may choose to use in our testing, and easily tell if the cells we actually buy from the food chain are in line with specified performance. It’s good to ‘sanity check’ the ones we get, and also get a look at consistency across several cells. Now that HKJ is less active in this area, I hope more will post such results from their own personal testing to help fill that void just a bit.

Appreciate the share. I’m about to place an order for some more 14500’s, and these are on the menu. The smaller the cell, the more critical capacity becomes in my opinion. I can live with a 10 -15% capacity shortfall in larger cells, but these little boogers need to live up to the specs to wring out the most from today’s 14500 platform lights (although it may only be a matter of minutes in runtime differences).

I just tested some Vapcell F38 with the Liitokala Lii-M4S and gives me:

  • Charge: 4246 mAh
  • Discharge: 3955 mAh
