Very brief review Convoy C8+

Yesterday’s news? Out of date? Nothing special? Perhaps all true. Here is my brief review:

If you are looking for a pocket thrower that can reach 500 meters in the spirit of BUDGET lights this thing is FANTASTIC! Have gifted a few IF22As and they are wonderful and way more modern. The 21700 is likely a better format for this type of light etc…

You can have 2 C8+ for the cost of one IF22A and IMHO that is a spectacular value that makes this light stand out. My bullet points:
*Have good 18650 batteries that needed a use.
*Really like the SST20 – all my others are warm flooders – who knew it would throw so well.
*Excellent ability to dissipate the heat. Run on full till the battery is gone no problem.
*Convoy build quality far beyond price.
*Lego capability with older Convoy C8.
*Format is excellent for jacket pocket carry
*No charging port / circuit, no e switch, and can configure UI for what I want a light like this to work like.

Certainly, there are newer lights that can do more have better drivers UI etc. However, as a light to carry in a jacket pocket that can maintain a decent output for a long time and is likely to be reliable and easy to use, this is still a great value. I’m kind of taking a break from flashlights for a while but my old clear c8 broke the top spring and I just got this on sale as a lark because everything else I have is a flooder. Perhaps next year I will dig in more and spend more money on something more modern and better.

The bottom line is that I was blown away by how good this thing is. Only got it because it was too cheap to resist. No regrets.

This is one of the reasons I like the M21A.
The other reason is, I have large hands.

For those that don’t know the M21A is a 21700 version of the C8+ other than the battery size the only other difference is it uses a 20mm driver instead of a 17mm like the C8+.

Yep, I’m a fan of the M21A as well.
I have large hands with long skinny fingers and 21700 flashlights work well for me. :+1:

Thanks for pointing that out. If I were starting fresh this would likely be the way I would go as well. Just couldn’t stand to see my fresh 30Qs with no place to go;-)

Yeah, not great for people with smaller hands because it is noticeably chunkier than the C8. Surprisingly the M21E is also a 21700 C8-based flashlight but it’s more compact then M21A yet they managed to fit a side switch and USB charging port. Sadly it comes with a very limited emitter choice, it’s either very throwy or very floody with nothing in the middle (XHP50, B35AM).

My M21A/B35AM 4500K is one of my most used lights, I love it!
