Vintage Lights and teh Internet.

I’ve been really living it up recently going through some flashlight nostalgia. I like some lights from the 90s through 2010 with the exception of a later Led Lenser called F1. Well being that it is 2023 there isn’t so many reviews of older lights nowadays. I use various search engines and at best maybe I find some 20 year old thread on CPF or something.

Well today I had an idea. Some years ago I was using the State’s internet which is heavily filtered. To bypass such restrictions I would use the Web Archive. It might not have all the content and some pictures sometimes are missing and nevermind being usually outdated. Well for this task it is to my advantage. At first I was looking up some Pila stuff and then I found some dead links that also worked in the Wayback. Now I found some reviews for some older lights that are still being made but not so many talk about such as Tektite. There is also the advantage that back then there was less video reviews and more text based reviews.

If anyone knows of some old dead links post them in here so I and others could check them out.

This was a useful sight for looking up information on flashlights that predate LED’s, although there is some newer stuff in their pages, as well… Unfortunately, it went offline about 2 years ago, so it’s really fortunate that archive.org has it very well indexed:

If you have any interest in kerosene lanterns, this retailer maintains a pretty decent amount of information, especially about Dietz lanterns.

Oh thats a good site. I looked at Dietz lanterns once but after getting Princeton Tec LED ones I haven’t looked back.
