My daughter heading into the Costa Rican rain forest for a two week community service project.
They are required to have a headlamp with a red output option.
I only have Zebralight which is white only.
What can you recommend?
I don’t want too expensive in case it gets lost but at the same time something a little decent that I can claim for myself after her trip :innocent:
Single cell would be preferable. I have loads of 18650’s so can send a spare or two with her. Single AA is also OK.
Huge output not a requirement.
The XTAR H1 Commander looks like a decent option but seems to be out of stock everywhere. Also huge price range from under $30 to over $50.
I bought a 2 pack of Bushnell 150 Lumen Multicolor Headlamp yesterday at my local Sam’s Club for $5.91. Certainly not up there in quality as Nitecore or XTAR, but they do have a red light mode. For less than $3 each including batteries, I couldn’t pass it up.
Thanks.
The Bushnell looks like a good deal. Amazon 2 for $14.
Why does Nitecore go the built in battery route on the NU30? Would have been a good option if not for that.
HC50 starting to get bit high in price.
I haven’t really tested it that much but it’s a great looking light with excellent performance on both the white and red outputs when I tested it in my back yard.
I am finding now and again, mode dependent, than after switching off there is still a very faint glow from the led.
Sometimes it only lasts a few seconds and sometimes it appears to stay on.
Andrew and Amanda dot com have a coupon code for the light bringing it down to $35 shipped.
There after sales service has also been very good.
What’s not to like at this price??
