Warsun 3000mAh 18650 Battery Tested and Unwrapped

I was recently gifted a Warsun SQ03 Plus which came with a 3000mAh 18650 battery.

I decided to test it to see how it compared to a Samsung 30Q 3000mAh 18650 Battery.

My tester only discharges to 3.0v so a full 3000mAh isn’t possible.
That being said, you can see the Warsun battery doesn’t come close to 3000mAh.

Warsun 3000mAh:

My approximately 2 year old Samsung 30Q(3000mAh):

After testing it, I thought I’d peel the wrapper off and see if there was any writing on the Blue wrapper underneath.

Unfortunately there wasn’t any writing on the blue wrapper.

So I decided to peel off the blue wrapper to see if anything was written directly onto the cell:

Unfortunately nothing was printed on the cell either.

It’s kinda hard to see in the pictures but the cell actually has 4 dents in it.
I was planning to rewrap this cell but after seeing the dents, I’m going to discharge and recycle it…

Thanks for the test and ‘unwrap’; always interesting to see!

I’m not (completely) surprised that this cell didn’t meet the stated capacity, given the low price point of the light it came in, but this one is quite far off from the stated capacity! (I would’ve guessed it would maybe be a 2000-2200mAh cell, but not this low.)

It’s probably a 1800-2000mAh.
My tester only goes to 3v so I can’t get the full capacity and that’s also why I test results of the 30Q.
