Can anyone help me out, I have one of the astrolux/Blf 17mm âLightedâ tail switches. today I decided to change the colour of the LEDs. so i desoldered the current two and replaced them with some smaller 0805s, but, only one will light up? i have changed the polarity of the other one and even changed the LED a few times but still no light to the second LED. do i need to change the resistor values or something?
Modded a Klarus Mi7 14500 flashlight with a BLF X6 driver modded with a attiny85 and a east92 board modded with NarsilMQ8 firmware.
Thatâs a lot of modding.
Iâm afraid that requires troubleshooting yourself where the bad connection is. Did you pre-tin the leds?
Apart from a bad connection, if the two leds are a different colour (especially if one is red and the other not (green, blue etc.), the voltage difference is too big and only the red one sucks all the current and lights up.
Another way to solve it is finding a way to solder a separate resistor for each led, then a red and other colour led is no problem. I did that once for this board: currently they are behind a common resistor, but if you cut the long trace that goes under the switch and add a extra resistor for the now âcut-offâ led between led and switch-pad (sorry, no picture but I guess you can think it out), both leds will work. The two resistors must have twice the value then, to have about the same combined resistance as before. Or you can tweak the values to have the two leds light up evenly.
Great work on the bezel, I had been planning on doing the exact same thing, nice to see someone has done it and what it will look like.
Iâll bet it took a while even with that small amount of stainless to sand off, did you start with coarse and go work up to fine, or just use one grit the whole way through?
Woo-hoo, finally unlocked the hidden beauty inside the Astrolux S42. Using one of Lexelsâ S42 Narsil drivers, the S42 now has access to moonlight, turbo, last-mode-memory and stepless ramping etc.!
And since I didnât mind a little parasitic drain (certainly much lower than the OEM dragon mode drain), I managed to keep (a red) locate me mode (as it doesnât âbreathâ like original).
Not today, but on the last weeks, I modded some lights (yeah, the pieces finally arrived )!
Simple mods, but still some troubles :person_facepalming:

Iâd wait, from what I understand theyâre updating the driver in the next version. I donât know if itâs Narsil but in any event itâll be an improvement over the original UI.
If you donât want to wait, you may want to get the copper head. It gets warm faster now .
My first Maglite mod will be soon made. I got a 2D led pro from a hungarian forum member as a present because I have never touched any Maglite So I decided to give it some power.
Exploded:
My plans:
Making a spacer for 4 convoy S2+ reflectors it will have 39mm material under the leds
Design done:
Sand down the paint on top edge of tube because that will be contact negative to spacer and then driver.
The driver will be a Texas Avenger LDO 2S 21mm driver with E-switch and AndĂșril firmware in the bottom of spacer.
I will cut the top of the switch holder to put in a copper contact plate and I will use 2x 18 AWG wire to contact it with battery positive contact terminal through the gutted switch.
I will put in 2x26650s and spring bypass on bottom end, and they will be driven 4 pcs SST40 Leds in 2S2P led config. I hope it reach 8-9000 lumens.
And maybe I turn some heat fins on the head for better heat dissipation.
Most of this are plans but I have the leds and driver parts so soon will be made.
BLF A6 driver into Convoy S2+ (XM-L2 U2 1B 7135 x 6)
The mod took me about 20 minutes. The driver is soldered into the pill which took a little extra time. This is not for beginners. I can see a novice making a cold joint or a hot mess.
Total cost for the driver and the S2+ was $11.36. Was it worth it? Maybe. The S2+ was too bright on low. The mod fixed that. It is also noticeably brighter on turbo thanks to the FET. I have a pretty good flashlight for $11 and change.
On the other hand, I paid $17.99 for an A6.
I could swap the emitter to an XP-L with a total cost about the same as an A6. Even after the emitter swap, the A6 is going to be the better of the two.
The A6 looks a little better, feels a little better, and is a little easier to work on.
Since i donât have an A6 i dont know the difference in quality between them. Just wanted to say that modding gives you the opportunity to make something as you would like to have it.
Modded my silver S2+ which came with the V2-1A, which was nice (nice beam for a small size fl) but i did not like the tint, also i thought it would be nice to have a pocket rocket, so ordered a XPL2HD 5000K and A6 driver, which is nice but the yellow corona annoyed me, tried an OP reflector, which made it somewhat better, but not enough. so now just ordered an XPL hi 4500K
Also changed the black switch for a silver and a silver screw-on clip, so after all, it is what i expected it to be.
Itâs not a bargain anymore though :person_facepalming:
