Added Aux to my Blue FW3A tonight:
Change switch to cold white from cyan, new driver 9+9 and and swap led from sw27 to xpl hi 2850k. Also I invert Channel 2 to Channel1 with osram.
Tube 26800… I am in love
My new Mezzol X6 is a crazy light, even by My standards! Current in the first two levels is too low for my clamp meter to measure. Lumens output on level 1, likewise, too low for my light box to measure. But that Turbo start number on the 25S right off the charger, insane!
From sub lumen to 8000… one 18650 and one emitter. New benchmark for the X6 lineage.
That’s pretty awesome Dale, and from a driver that you didn’t even know you had!
I’m starting to think that the legendary 219B’s have finally met their match… dedomed 519A’s seem better in every way. Figures that I just ordered 219b’s in the latest convoy order… maybe I’ll swap those in the future. Considering how much of a tint snob I am, I think my future mods will be putting 519a’s in anything that produces light…
I might be coming around to a similar conclusion… mostly because the 519a can be 60-80% brighter than 219b
but, Im still loyal to my sw45k for its pink tint
otoh for warmer cct, the dedomed 519a are pretty nice, great color rendering, but sort of Orange Ochre Tint (not pink, but neither are the warmer 219b)
I also like the domed 519a 5700K, but not a fan of the domed 519a 4500K (looks greenish to me), nor 3000K (kind of yellow, not rosy)
choices are good
@NeutralFan I knew the SIR404 FET would rock, just figured that driver must be bad or why else was it put aside?
Sometimes ya just get lucky!
Nice !
Or be like me and collect them all! My 219Bs are all pretty darn nice, and nice enough that I wouldn’t consider replacing them.
My 219B sw27 is in a single LED flashlight and the beam and tint are great. I like it just as much as my much rosier triple dedomed 3500K (=2700K) 519As. And my Convoy M2 with quad 219B sw40s has been a favorite ever since I made it 4 years ago. Having 4 of helps make the 219Bs nice and bright. All my other 219Bs are in triple and quads so no issue with brightness.
And using a green tinted AR lens helps get just a little more rosiness out of the 219Bs (obviously not needed for the sw45k).
If I had to choose, no doubt it would be the 519As. But I still like my 219Bs, and my E17As, Optisolises, etc. To me, they all have their unique qualities and I enjoy them all.
@aheftie SWEET! Nice hefty little light!
Nice !
Nice! It’s good to see people are starting to build these. To what kind of output you settled to? I built one for my D4K as well and configured it to 12V 3.2A.
Welcome to BLF
Also a 5050 quad PCB for the Emisar D4 is awesome, especially with the new XM-L2s performing well at 6A per LED and more.
Gotta wonder what the performance would be like, from a larger optic in the D4Sv2, hopefully over 100kcd of throw and over 6500 lumens turbo.
I went for the 6V configuration, because tint-ramping mcpcb can be easily modded that way. And I used a 169k resistor for R1, so that should be ~6.8A peak current. Probably about 3k turbo lumens with 519A sm453 dd. If only I had equipment to measure output and such…
Nice!
Actually all my lights contain freemans .
FWAA with 18W Boost (please excuse the poor solder jobs, there I was using a supercheap iron):
FW1AA with 12W Boost-Buck:
Imo best after-market switching drivers in existence. Hopefully soon available pre-assembled!
Apparently you are the guy who I asked about dynamos in little Nichia group. Little birds told me that. I have built few interesting lights with these drivers as well. Most of them can be found here in this forum.
Hehe, I think I read a couple of theses posts, thanks for sharing them. Actually, they partly motivated me to build freemans myself. I hope to read more of them in the future!
