Nice! What tap size?
M22x1.25
Itâs just a hair wider than the factory threads (pillâs size is 21.8mm x something).
This info is gold, been waiting for a long time
of to order tap thread and make one 18500shorty and a mule
Just to clarify. This can be done with an old style triangular threads. I have no idea how to make threads with new hosts sold by Simon (with rectangular threads).
bummer ![]()
need to ask plumbers i think pipe threads are rectangular
bought some parts and batteries from KD they never sent em wanted more money for battery shipping
Out with the old, in with the new!
Swapped the XPLâs in my FW3A with a few NTG35 5000kâs
Compare to 519a 5000k
Iâve been thinking about swapping out the XP-L HI LEDs in mine too for quite a while. The tint is neutral, but the CRI is low. Lots of lumens, but Iâd sacrifice many of them for better CRI and a rosy tint.
Any lessons learned now that youâve done yours, or is it a pretty straightforward mod?
Mine was pretty straight forward. The bezel wasnât even glued on or anything. Came right off. No screws holding the mcpcb. Just the 2 wires and swapping the emitters. About as easy as you can get.
And the results are so worth it! I actually want to carry it now. Where I never did before.
Modded my T9R, it already had SBT-90.2 in it, but then I got the urge to try out the NBT160, it is very green, haha.
I probably gonna swap it back to SBT-90.2, and put the NBT160 into 3X21D when I can get it later.
Here also the SBT90.2, NBT160, and RC90. First two are 5700K, the RC90 is 4500K
The hill is around 180 meters, WB locked at 5000K, exposure/brightness is at auto since I canât change them, so the pic doesnât show the brightness difference well
Oh, thatâs exciting.
Do you have any beam shots of it?
Not yet, donât know what host to put it in yet
I vote for a M21J
Ooh tempting!
Iâm looking at the M21H since it uses TIR too, and for the driver I have this EE3 driver from Nightwatch which has 8A buck and FET turbo, and E-switch operated too
I switched from SFT25 to SFT70, did some tests, and as usual, applied some simple potting to the back of the driver, ugly but itâll work, see this for reference.

Salam kenal dari Samarinda!
Today I modded my 3X21C.
I firstly replaced the thermal paste with the Arctic MX-6 that I had laying around.
Eventho I have 3D printer and PTD has shared the STL file for the spacers, instead I added a nut onto each of the original screw to âshortenâ it, as it would handle the compression better from being tightened more.
And did some tidying of the solder joints, as well as cleaning the MCPCB and the emitters themself! Since I saw some LED got killed cause of flux residue or debris sitting on the emitter surface.
The only thing different that I did is probably the springs, instead of just wire bypass or double up the springs, I use the spring that I got from Nightwatch as replacements.
The 20mm MCPCB need a little bit of sanding to make the diameter smaller to make it fit, and the springs got soldered onto those MCPCBs, it doesnât look pretty but seems to do the job really well!
How long it will last in turbo before melting?)))
