Hurricane Helene gifted me with a red stop light. It is 12 inches in diameter and completly sealed. The frame it came out of is lexan and it had an aluminum mount which is what broke. I would like to mount it on my bicycle just to annoy the police. The problem is it is 120 volts. It is only 6.2 wats. The old style traffic lights were 240 watts and 8000 hours. I would like to power it off a 12 volt battery but I want a converter that is cheep since the police will surely take it away from me.
I think I would contact my city officials and tell them that I have one of their stop lights.
I wouldn’t want to get in any trouble, but that’s just me.
Good luck with your project!
That’s what he is trying to do, but in a slightly exotic way.
Can you install a powerful red LED (array in series) with 12 volt Vf?
Wait, stealing collecting road signs isn’t normal where you live?
Something like that would likely end in my workshop as a decoration…
It might be a cool thing to keep, in the shop, or wherever, but flaunting it as a taillight might not be a great idea.
Those are actually quite expensiveand I’msure they want it back. I recommend contacting the city maintenance and utilities office and asking how you can return it.
Wow, apparently you can just buy one.

You could always try install one of these bad boys into the stoplight housing. Only $5 and its a 9-12V Led array. Its a crappy led but if you want to run it cheaply off 12v battery it might work for you
I could be wrong, but I think maybe he just has the LED and reflector module and not the whole fixture? I think this because he specified that it was red.
Can you send images?
Did you mean to reply to the thread owner? Slightly confused. I imagine he has something like this: GE LED Signals
Yes the thread iwner sorry
Savannah Georgia has already replaced 625 power poles and 1400 spans of wire. The light is junk all I took was the bulb. I used to run a 6 inch truck light on the rear which I got when a light bar was knocked off in a parking garage. I plan on buying one of those flashers that take 8 AA batteries you can get in any truck stop when I can find one that does not have a screw which is easy to lose at night.
