What is the Hold Up?!

I pretty much stopped ordering things from China, it’s just too bad lately.

Well to be fair, it’s not just Chinese companies that let you down on delivering on time. My second order from the USA has been just as bad.
I got a knife from drop.com on 16th April - was due to ship early June.
By 28th June I had to contact them, they said there was a problem (so why not tell me? , just like China, bad/no comms) and if it took more than another month they would let me know.
It finally shipped on the 13th July and has been stuck in DHL Avenel, NJ since. Hasn’t moved for 6 days from the ‘sealed in sack’ stage.
I don’t expect to have it in my hands for another fortnight at the earliest - it has to fly over and go through customs yet.

I ordered a headlamp from boriut AE store 2 weeks ago. Shipped in 3 days and is now in the US somewhere. I think it depends on when you ordered and who you ordered it from.

Wonder if he still had hair.

OK…just food for thought, which will happen first? I will receive all Sofirn and Banggood orders, or the pandemic will end?

Okay, I had 1 order that showed as shipping on June 6, from banggood, with no further info. Tracking on 17track.net showed the tracking number as invalid. After considerable time in chat with banggood, the banggood rep said it had been returned. It seems they would have let me know, but now I have a refund in process for that order. My point is this, if the order shows the Chinese tracking only, and shows as an invalid tracking number not in the system at 17track.net, you might want to check on it. Over six weeks since shipped, and was returned without notifying me. That is not good.

Success! One of my two packages from Hank, shipped through Singapore Post, arrived today.

This one was marked as en-route on May 29th.

I still have another package that hasn’t moved from en-route on May 22nd, so maybe it’s just a massive backlog the BC Customs office is working through. If that be the case, hopefully it isn’t much longer until all the other packages shipped on the same date clear and enter Canada Post’s system.

Things are getting normal, I had a package from Bangood make it in like twelve days and a package from the U.K. make it in nine to the Midwest U.S.

Seems the problem is moving the item within the us after coming from china, made it to the us in 2 weeks, usa customs 2 weeks , 4 weeks later reports in CA, LA 2 more weeks … still sitting

Okay…someone please explain the reason for this parcel to be returned. Following is a copy and paste for part of the letter, but I edited the order number out. This only had 1 Sofirn SP36 flashlight.

We are writing to inform you that we have refunded 55.3800 USD for order xxxxxxxx. Your order has resulted in a refund for parcel returned due to heavy weight, order returned, refund. Please allow 48 hours for your refund to be processed back to your original payment method. If it is for credit card payment, it may take up to 7-14 days to show in your account.

Someone please tell me how that little light weighed too much to send. Can anyone begin to explain how that happened?

Finally! My package from sofirnlight is out for delivery. 28 days from Jamaica, NY to Cleveland, OH

I wish sellers would stop shipping via Pitney Bowes.

There was a useful post on here a while back in a similar thread. Exporters buy up unused cargo space on commercial flights, less commercial flights has resulted in a bottleneck. A friend in Canada ordered his Thrunite FW3A a week after I ordered mine. Mine took 9 days to the UK, his took 8 weeks.

When I am wrong, I am willing to admit I was wrong. That is the case I am now confronted with. Last year when dealing with a slow boat from China, I commented that delivery of parcels could not possibly get any worse. I was wrong, and should have never made such an obviously flawed assumption. Thursday morning USPS tracking said one of my packages was out for delivery, and said that until the mail ran. It then changed to running late, and has not changed since. all the packages that have been dormant for nearly six weeks will attest to the fact that I underestimated the USPS, UPS, and Fedex, so I was very wrong. I feel better now having cleared up my error in judgement. I thought it would be impossible, but I underestimated their ability to be even worse. The have clearly PROVEN that they could be worse.

In my observations, packages shipped about beginning of March up to mid of June (when the pandemic and the lockdowns were at its strongest) almost all commercial flights affected the delivery of non-essential goods and virtually and ships were limited to essential and foodstuffs only, the movement of locked-down items remained at almost a standstill….and only those packages sent after mid of June and this month have packages really moved a lot faster.

Our local government post office said packages during the lockdown periods were all put inside container vans for safekeeping and are waiting for their turn to be loaded via ships once a month only.

These pandemic times are difficult for everybody’s physical movement I personally feel for those people working ( if indeed they are even at work at all) in the mail, considering the risks.

I even have two Aliexpress items now at more 100 days while tracking says it has landed, it will be on a slow boat, even locally.

Convoy 46 days in transit

Petrified fish 37 days in transit

Lumintop 19 days in transit

First two on track to arrive next week.

I agree that due to Covid-19 some delays and slow delivery is unavoidable. I get that, but I suspect that is not the only reason for delays. Prior to the pandemic, there was a reasonable amount of pressure on the employees of the delivery services to complete these deliveries in a timely fashion. Now, inefficiencies in every job everywhere can be blamed on Covid-19, and that has an effect as well. It may be impossible to know how much effect that has. Before the pandemic, if deliveries were behind, management might authorize overtime to reduce the backlog. There is not any incentive to do that now due to having the pandemic to explain the backlog. Emergency measures were put in place to prevent a lot of workers from experiencing financial ruin, but it also created the weird situation that some people made more unemployed than they did before they had a job loss. As a direct result some employers are having issues in their employees starting back to work for less than they make staying home. All these riots are likely also contributing to the problem, especially when some appear to have surrendered to the mob mentality. Sprinkled in with legitimate protesters are some anarchist who’s stated mission is to bring down the Government. It is that fraction of those at protests that are burning, looting, and doing all they can to make the protest anything but peaceful. It is likely only a very small percentage in those crowds, but they are having a devastating effect. Those in power need to stop them, sooner rather than later, because it has gotten out of hand, and people, even children and babies, are dying in great numbers as a result of lawless behavior. Sorry for the rant. This is not the place for that.

Well its been 120 days for my Emisar packages and still no sign of them. Has anyone actually got any packages that have been stuck for this long? at what point should I assume they have just disappeared? as much as we can blame the delays on Covid, it doesn’t make sense that packages shipped now are arriving quickly. shipping companies should prioritize packages that have been sitting for the longest and eventually work through the backlog.

Yes, my order from Banggood shipped 3/11/20 delivered 8/4/20

127 days for my KR4, Canada post is no help neither is Singapore post I contacted Canada post they indicate package is actually still in Singapore while Singapore adamantly claims the package is in Canada…… I’m leaning towards believing Canada post on this one.

illumn has the K1 in stock. I got two day fedex shipping. I understand that doesn’t help anybody waiting for their order.

Never had problems ordering directly from Hank, but Illumn is great too.
