I want to have a go at modding my POP lite (looks like a Led Lenser). I’m impressed with its current performance claimed at 220 lumens from an XP-E. In general it’ll out throw and out flood a p60 XM-L.
But what LED do you think I should try in it? I think Led Lenser use XM-L’s in their latest lights. So I assume they must work ok. So do you think I could improve on the current XP-E with an XP-G2 or XM-L2 driven a bit harder than the current led is.
I can't tell you what to use, but only relay that I have had no luck with "upgrading" to XP-G2 emitters 2 different led-lenser type lights (POP lite).
I can try to describe what I saw. In flood it is like the flood is "washed out". The flood area is marginally smaller but somehow looked oddly pale.
In throw mode the it is somewhat of the same story. However the spot is slightly bigger than with XR-E.
I think it must be that the original TIR lenses are really emitter specific.
