Came from a relative who got it from an acquaintance, it has an incandescent bulb and looks like its never been used and needs to be cleaned but has no scratches. It has a plastic lens so i assume its not old
I have no real interest in using it, i don’t even have any C batteries.
Maglight will always have a special place for me… After I got the flashlight bug a couple years ago, I pulled out a 20 year old 4C maglight I had when I was an LEO…
It was a little banged up from use, but worked fine in stock form. I decided to juice it up a bit since it had sentimental value…
A drop in Terra Lux 220 lumen bulb, new glass lens to replace the scratched old one, a glass breaker tail cap, good cleaning and a fresh set of alkalines. The old 4C mag now lives in my daily driver right next to the seat/ center console. Reliable -it always lights up, good defensive tool and a glass breaker for emergencies.
I always carry a small 18650 or similar light as an EDC, but it’s always nice to know the MAG is there just in case I need extra light or some crack head comes out of the bushes and gets too close to me or a loved one…
I keep an extra pack of long life 4C batts in the door storage pouch, and always check the batteries in the light monthly.
tldr; Spent 50 bucks updating and fixing up a old Mag with sentimental value and happy with it.
Not trying to get anything (although I would be happy to join the GAW). I just thought that if you don’t have a use for it, maybe you can “Pay it forward” by giving it to someone who would. If you were a modder, I’d say put a XHP-35 in it, but IIRC, you don’t claim that skill.
No modding unfortunately though with 4C batteries its not a form factor i’m really in to, 4AA is awesome on account of eneloops.
Would a giveaway where the winner has to pay shipping be unclassy though, i can’t afford to ship it with high Canadian shipping prices.
@Hawaiian Eyez
Thanks for posting that, i am hesitant to get rid of it because it is a nice light, but i just have no use for it, lumens are low (i’m spoiled by XM-L2 and XP-L), and battery is not a form factor i can easily use. In my case its taking up space and i’m a minimalist.
@Boaz i’ll have to look into the PVC, should work but lumens means i will never use the light unfortunately, even 150 lumens is not worth it, i don’t even use my 1AA 150 lumen light anymore.
@jacktheclipper interesting idea, i just checked though and 26650 doesn’t fit this one, its also not an older one which is probably why
I have several maglites in D and C cell configurations. The one that is most dear to my heart is a 4C as it was my grandfathers. I got it after he passed. Yeah, it’s scratched up and all…but it was granddad’s flashlight. I converted it over to use and LED and it’s actually a nice light.
What kind of shipping do you figure from Canada to the U.S.?
Agreed, that’s pretty steep S&H. They are nice though with the LED upgrade. Niteize upgrade is just a tad over $7 and offers 55 lumens and is a nice clean white. 55 lumens doesn’t sound like a lot but it’s more than double (IIRC) what it is with an incandescent bulb and is actually great for around the house or in a car. I carry a 2D LED Maglite in each of my vehicles in the GHB.
Of course it’s kinda old/low tech so maybe you should keep it as a conversation piece:
