Nasty, those things hurt like hell. Make a gallon of lemonade, cranberry juice cocktail with a shot of olive oil and keep chugging until the missile shoots out.
Sorry, I missed this earlier. Im not sure you can own a hand gun outside of a club now, even .177 air pistols. I believe it is a real issue for our Olympic team and anyone who wishes to enter those sports. Single fire Rifles are obtainable but it is often with strict controls inc limited ammo and land intended for the use of firing must be approved and signed consent from the owner. Think that's the gist of it, a google search will prob get a more reliable answer.
Tons of goodies today. I got some single mode drivers, bare P-60 pills with OP lenses and some shorty green GITD tail cap boots and o-rings from KD. I got the wide angle Magicshine lens to use om the KD-C8 on my bike.
I also got a K&N filter, jet kit and some magnetic drain plugs for my Dads new scooter (Kymco Super 8 150). Hoping to get 70mph out of it, it hits 65 now on flat ground. I have gained ownership of it since he fell over the first day he had it and broke his hip. I am hoping to surprise him once he's ready ride again by adding a little performance upgrade to it and doing the first service as well.
It's a pretty impressive little machine for $2300. I got 80mpg on the first tank it easily keeps up with traffic. It pulls hard up to 50mph and slowly pulls all the way up to 65mph.
Wow the little machine can move now. I am 6'4" 250lbs not tucked in on flat ground, all I did was remove the airbox, add a pod filter, bigger pilot and main jet total cost $40 and about 30 minutes to install. Results it pulls hard right to redline now, it doesn't lean out on top like it did stock and I picked up 5 mph and a nice intake sound. My dad's going to be impressed when he can finally ride again.
The other idea that came to mind was putting it on a stand and just revving away.... but I'll go with the top speed memory button as that seems like a much more sensible option ;)
I want one of these scooters for a work commuter vehicle. My drive has just changed from a 2-mile commute to a 23-mile drive. My pickup gets ~16mpg. I need to do some math now!
Okay... only considering fuel economy, and not taking registration, insurance, and other maintenance into account...
Also, making the following assumptions:
I drive the bike to work EVERY day
The bike gets 70mpg (conservative guess below E's stated economy)
Gasoline prices @ $3.60/gal
...the bike would pay for itself in one year. Of course, I would not be driving the bike to work every day. Bad weather days, need for the truck, vacation days, etc, would cut into those figures somewhat. But, I also drive several hundred miles/month for my employer, for which I receive .50/gal reimbursement. I really do believe a bike of this sort would pay for itself in one year for my normal use.
My concern is that these small scooters have to be registered and insured as a full motorcycle in the state of Texas. I would prefer something more enjoyable if I were to register/insure a bike. My first choice would be a V-Star 650 for a starter, but that would take a lot longer to pay for, but would be more comfortable.
E, Where did your dad get this scooter? Was it online or through a local shop? Where to get the best prices?
DX: heatsink & reflector for Mag "C" modding, tube of Fujik, misc GITD o-rings. Ordered 4/29, shipped out on 5/3, received on 5/11. Great times for DX!!
So you pursuing a similar mod to My Mag "C"? What's your planned mod? I still haven't posted up a build thread on mine! Co-workers are still using it and I haven't had any complaints.
You inspired me to do this. I bought a new 2C Mag from Old-Lumens and plan to do a single-cell conversion to run a 26650 and a reprogrammed Nanjg 105 either 2.8A or with a couple chips added for 3.5A. I have a tail switch idea I want to try out as well since I despise the stock C mag switch - worse switch ever!!
Edit: Second worse switch ever!! The worse is the Nitize 2AA MiniMag tail switch.
What happened with yours? You showed me your pill/heatsink mods but never enlightened me on the finished product.
I promise one day I'll post up a build thread. It's just a simple XP-G R5 neutral white driven by 3 NiMh cells with a 1.4A Nanjg driver. The heatsink/pill is probably overkill, but I wanted it to be dependable for long runs on high. I did post my beamshots after I finished it with some in my Underground thread too.
Here's what my heatsink looked like after I filled it with 4AWG solid copper wire and solder and drilled a depression with a 3/4" drill bit for the driver to sit in:
Here it is with driver installed and "jumped" across with copper sheeting (what a pain to solder!):
Yikes! I have to admit I recoiled in fright when I saw that pick. LOL! Beauty can be found in even the most beastly of things and it doesn’t look like a drop or 30 will knock that driver loose from the pill. No one sees it and the performance is all that matters.
My Dad got it at a local dealer for two reasons I couldn't find one online and it has a two year warrantee. My dads been riding Harlys his whole life so now at 68 he wanted something light weight with big wheels and that would keep up with traffic. The more research I did the Super 8 kept coming up it has a 150cc Honda clone motor and 14" wheels. The other big selling feature is that we are both fit on it and we are both 6'4", finding a scooter we fit on doesn't happen often.
Insurance was less than $100 a year and maintenance consist of one quart of Rotella 15w40 every 1000 miles and a valve adjustment every 3000. No oil filter it uses a screen identical to the old Volkswagen Beetles so buy some magnetic drain plugs.
I have been riding since I was 9 and trust when I say this thing is a blast to ride. The tires are super sticky it has decent lean angles and snappy power. For bombing around town it's perfect I haven't taken my big bike out once since I picked it up. I put 150 miles on it so far averaging a little over 80 mpg so less than 2 gallons of fuel used that would have been 10 gallons of fuel in my truck so I saved 8 gallons $32 dollars in 2 weeks. It has a hook on the fairing between your legs I can hang four plastic grocery bags from it and there's a decent sized trunk under the seat a gallon of milk and a couple bottles of wine fit no problem. I also mounted a cup holder on the dash so I can do my morning my coffee run with it.
Here's the Cycle World review PM me if you have any more questions.
