I finally broke down and got a Sipik SK-68 clone (Amazon for $3.45 shipped - could not resist).
Have been thinking about it for a year or so. The lack of any spill kind of spooked me, but it is not that bad. I look forward to using it on a foggy or misty night, the beam will be like a freaking light saber!
Overall a decent light, and fun to finally have a zoomable. First using an Eneloop AA, I was really impressed when I put in a 14500.
Since my brother gave me a Nebo Red Line, I haven’t seen any point in having throw and spill at the same time, when you can light up just what you are looking at with a zoomy. However, I gave up on one $3.50 SK68 clone when I had to reduce the tail cap threads to half a turn to keep it from cross threading. Almost all SK68 clones are high quality, but there have to be some mistakes that reach the market.
There is a cheaper narrower zoomy appearing recently with good higher production workmanship for as little as $4, but the narrower lens means less light.
I recieved both my aurabuy m8 (turned out to be an ultrafire x-8) and a light that’s been in transit for nearly two months. A marsfire 313.
I’ve not had much chance to do anything with either of them but I do like that the marsfire can use 1 cell or two with no visual loss in output. its a shame the driver is five mode and I planned to fit an mtg2
