Today my DQG Faerie arrived which I purchased used from ReManG. It came with six 10180 cells, the charging cap, and of course the Faerie. Everything thing was in fantastic shape and works way better than I imagined. This light is TINY! What to do with all the accessories and cells so it all stays together and doesn't get lost? Make a case for it, that's what. I had a nice 18650 dual cell case with a nice latch on it that would be perfect for the job. A piece of dense foam cut to shape and I was in business. I'm quite proud of it for some reason, probably for the simplicity of it but mostly because the whole damned light and 5 spare cells plus the charger fit inside an 18650 case with room to spare. Amazing! Thanks, Gary!!
I have tried several ones, including ultrafire and solarforce p60 drop-ins.
One other xenon drop-in worked. led drop-ins has 5-10mm extra at down. the flashlight do not screw down with a led drop-in.
but is possible to screw an other head with help of a needle negative contact completes and works.
The flashlight is polymer, there is not enough contacts inside of the body part.
And already the Tank007 E09 has replaced the Fenix E05 which had been on my keychain. Got some 10440’s coming to super-charge it, wish those were Eneloops but whatever. And along with my pocket-partner came a Convoy C-8. Can’t wait to try it, man it looks and feels awesome. But again, being new to the game I have no 18650’s either so until Gearbest gets them goodies here all I can do is drool- and smile!
FWIW the Tank 007 had gritty dry threads- a little bear grease and all is now very well indeed. I prefer this mode arrangement better and it’s got a lot more throw than the Fenix. The Convoy is excellent, but the head-threads could be a little tighter and the tail threads are somewhat loose but should be OK. Both are darn nice quality lights and I think I’m becoming a flashoholic. I have a terrific urge to get a couple Hugsbys, swap the heads, and see how that compares to my new Tank 007!
I just got my order of four loose XP-G2 emitters from RMM.
The nice warm Q2 7C4 ones.
Spent the afternoon reflowing them onto a 16mm quad board.
Tested with an ordinary AMC 7135x8 driver. Bingo! It’s warm and bright!
Now to find a cute little host. I’m waiting, Rey!
That’s the plan. I rarely buy one item from online stores, my usual is to get several things on the “wishlist” all at once. Just stuff to start with here- being newish to the world of non-product-specific LIon cells and chargers I figure I’ll kill a few out of stupidity and no point in ruining expensive good stuff. I will upgrade as soon as the budget recovers from my recent escapades and thanks for the US store link; I do prefer buying as locally as I can!
12x XPL High Inensity emitters
Nitecore EA11
A couple 12mm FET drivers from RMM
A couple 17mm FET drivers from RMM
I’ve already installed three of the XPL HI inside my DQG Tiny III, and a fourth in my Aleto N8 zoomie. I was going to put one inside the EA11, but I can’t get the bezel off. They used a lot more threadlocker in this one than my EC11. I think I’ll have to build a tool to slot into the crenelations on the bezel to allow me to unscrew it.
Haven’t yet decided what to do with the remaining 8 XPL HI. Thinking of using one of the 12mm drivers and one of those XPLs and installing them into my Fenix LD02, then maybe doing the same with my LED Lenser M3R.
