What's a Good Finger Sized EDC Light?

Hey all,

I won’t ask any more questions after this one. I appreciate you all taking the time to help and give me advice.

Anyway, I’d like to get a nice light that is about the size of your finger or thumb that I can carry in my cargo shorts and sit on my nightstand. My SK68 occupies that task right now, but I’d like to jump up to a better quality and better performing light to replace the 68 with. Besides, the SK68 is kinda bulky to be comfy in my front pockets.

As for price range, I’d like to stay at $40 as my limit. If I can get a nice light that does what I want it to do for $20, all the better. Leaves more money for other lights!!

As for cells, I like being able to use standard AA or AAA cells as that would make it where you’d never be without light and if you were, a quick stop at any of the hundreds of thousands of stores that sell regular batteries would have you back in light quickly.
I am not opposed to using other alternate cells like the 18650 and such, but I’d like to be able to charge it easily and without too much hassle. I don’t know if the 18650 cells can be charged with a USB if they aren’t part of the light. I guess I am asking whether there are 18650 cells that can be charged all by themselves with a Micro USB plug cable without the cell being in the light. I hope I made that clear enough. I get myself turned around sometimes…

Just a good, reliable light that performs good is all I’d like. If it’s from China, that’s OK. I’d also entertain buying a good USED light as long as it is reliable.
What EDC finger sized light would you all recommend given the limitations I have?

Thank you all once again for the help and suggestions. Glad I found a place to find out info on lights and buy more lights that don’t cost a fortune but still perform as well as their expensive brothers do.

Have a safe week guys and gals.

One more thing I meant to ask about the lights I am asking for suggestions on. That is, do all these LED lights have CREE LED’s in them now? Is that the standard that they all have or is getting a CREE led going to cost more? I would like to have CREE led’s in my new lights, if possible. I don’t think any of my other lights are CREE. All new stuff to me.

I have a Nitecore TIP2 as my keychain light, it is about thumb size and around $40-45 depending on where you buy it from.

I’m not huge on the AAA lights, as they tend to be twisties and the runtime and/or output doesn’t suit me.
I really like the DQG Slim AA, but it’s not easy to find and probably just slightly out of your price range. It is definitely finger-sized though.

The Thrunite T10T V2 is small, side-switch, and available in titanium for under $40 often. Not as small as the DQG, but nothing is.

Lumintop Tool 2.0.

Agree although that would be a big thumb

Well, the Tool is just a hair bigger than my index finger. :sunglasses:

I like the Sofirn SP10S. It’s AA sized, about 3.5” long. Disappears in my hand. Can hang it from your keyring. 800 lumens from a li-ion 14500 amd 250 ish from a nimh. Plus 90 cri. Good light.

I use the Acebeam TK 16 osram 16340 battery with me all the time … the size of a thumb, but it costs $ 55. Very good autonomy x brightness.

I agree, but PLEASE stop posting all the time!

This Olight S1 Mini is a nice light. Plenty small enough. Comes with a cell in either 6500k or 5500k and HCRI. $37.94

Thrunite T10. You can even use 14500 for hight power and use AA for backup.
