What's the most unusual thing you own ?

I've got a piece of ivory.. hope thats unusual enough.^^

I like it! where did you order it from? and why is it taking so long to get? BTW, I purchased mine back in 2003. Luckily I was able to find a few spare ZM1040 nixies at the time. Today, they're almost impossible to find, and if you can find them, they're outrageously expensive. So far none of my original ones have gone bad :)

I have a former Yugoslavian gas mask that I received as a gag gift, new in the plastic complete with all the small parts.

1937 issue Luftwaffe Luger P08 in remarkable condition including the cross-draw holster which is stamped with the issuee’s name “R. Earnhardt Posseneck” which my mothers step father……er…acquired… in northern africa early in the 40’s.

first gun i ever shot (almost 50 years ago), 100 year old design, 9mm parabellum, plenty of ammo still available. amazing.

those nixie tubes just reminded me of a petrol station i used to go to. The office was absolutely full of spares and stuff. I mean really stuffed full, with a path to the counter and till. Lying around on shelves and on the counter were these nixie tubes, i cant be 100percent sure that they were nixies but as i remember i’m pretty sure they were. They were used for the read out on the petrol pumps. It was hard to read how much fuel was going in your car because they were so worn out with digits missing etc. Next time i’m that way i will call in and have a look.

Sweet! My high school friend’s dad removed one from a dead German officer in the war and I had a chance to handle it, but, we never shot it. It was a beautiful firearm!

My two kids

James, the eldest is a complete lunatic, Luke, the youngest, is becoming a complete lunatic….

Once Luke is walking, I suspect I’m going to have to bungee cord the two of them to the ceiling for any peace…

the luger is a remarkable piece of machining, the tolerances surpass many other weapons i have owned and the action is truly unique.

it cant get dirty, at all.

one reason the colt 1911 action and the ak-47 continue to be used around the world is they will continue to work choked with dust and mud and sweat and cordite.

the luger will jam if you think enough dirty thoughts. it is truly an officers gun, but, of course, i wouldnt part with it for the world.

50 yr old lever action pop gun. Shoots a wine cork about 20’. Good for drunken couch plinking.

You can get it here: http://www.ramosclock.com/

They haven’t yet shipped the first batch, it’s a brand new company, and they got started on Kickstarter

I’ve been following their twitter feed, and things are getting pretty darn close now, they’ve got full production models getting certified right now.

This thing is packed with really cool features, you gotta watch the videos!

@ Rufusbduck : Maybe you should tell that couch of yours to stop drinking that much :-)

The couch is on a 12 step program. I use the popgun for the news, debates, and Simon.

LOL,my pure heart…

There's some pretty good stuff in this thread...

I think that weirdest thing I own is 15+ flashlights, and a lot of modding parts to go with it with more on the way. My wife thinks so anways (unless the power goes out). lol

You think thats weird? I’m over 80 lights. I had to create a spreadsheet to keep track of them.

the clock is awesome

and that mitchell 301 will be worth money one day - everybody USED them.

I have a DAM reel from the 60s that would probably have been worth money (was mint, w/ box) if I hadn’t put 20lb fireline on it and then hooked into a big laker. He stripped the line, I kept tightening drag, he bent the bail and broke the line.

Looks like this.

Internals are simple heavy duty brass gears.

For awhile DAM made a spinning reel w/ magnetic drag for using very light line. I had one of those too but some drunk tripped over it on a fishing trip and got sand inside.

I have a portable stereo I built into an old phonograph box: 5 1/4” sub, 6” woox passive radiator, logitech z50? amp (4ch plus sub). it uses 4 compaq computer speaker boxes w/ 3” tang band drivers in them and the speakers have long wires so you can take them out of the box and spread them out. The whole thing weighs just under 30lbs.

The sub is inside the separate enclosure that the speakers sit on. So is the amp, except the transformer, which I relocated to the speaker area for cooling and to increase enclosure volume. The interior of the sub enclosure is lined w/ steel shelf supports (like 20 of them) and all of them were seated on a thick layer of putty epoxy (to reduce vibration). The enclosure is loosely packed w/ and is tuned to 35 Hz. I also added a phase switch for the sub.

The interior of the speaker area has a few shelf supports for rigidity and is then lined w/ eva foam (anti fatigue floor mat). This makes the speakers slide in and fit tightly when transporting.

The whole thing is painted silver, then I painted it with black splatter paint, then with duplicolor mirage ICE. so…outside, in the sun, the black splatter changes colors a bit depending on where you stand/look.

Planned improvements included battery power (currently use smaller inverter and 12V battery w/ original AC power cord…but there’s a space inside, right in front of the sub enclosure, for a row of 18650s), and to install the scosche bluetooth receiver I’ve got around here…somewhere…
