When is trick or treat night in your area?

Wondering how many places have trick or treat night on days other than Halloween.

Trick or treat night has always been on the Thursday before/on Halloween for our area. The local town has a very large parade the Sat. night before/on Halloween which would explain not having them the same night but that only happens once every seven years. Just never understood the Thursday thing.

There are some places where tricks and treats can be found year round…:upside_down_face:

I’m lucky because I live in the middle of nowhere, therefore kids don’t trick or treat in our neighborhood!
That said, in surrounding areas, they trick or treat on Halloween.
For Halloween, all I do is watch a horror movie, which isn’t that special because I watch horror movies on a semi-regular basis. :jack_o_lantern:

We don’t have it. 800 metres along an unlit, non-residential minor road and then a further 500 metres down an unlit farm track tends to put people off.

Nice!
By the way, we have a steep driveway that’s maybe 100 yards long that discourages people from walking to our house.
I hate walking up the driveway (especially if I have to do it more than once in a short amount of time), but it probably contributes to our lack of trick or treaters. :black_cat:

Here it’s not so much little kids going around, but the hogs wheeling around their kids in strollers and ringing bells to get candy for themselves.

Like, some babies don’t even have teeth yet, so who’s really gonna eat those Snickerses and Baby Ruths??

Back in the day we would go out for candy the night before Halloween. They called it beggars eve. Then Halloween night they would have a parade in the village.

Where I am now it has devolved. They do go around on Halloween night. Most kids show up in mini vans that stop at each house where the parents escort kinds to the door. This sprinkled with a few 16 to 18 year olds that don’t use costumes. It seems to me all of the fun and adventure has been taken out of it.
I just stopped participating. Lights off curtains drawn. Fortunately almost no one stops …

What killed it was the pc crowd who declared that no one was allowed to dress up as a witch, a gypsy, a bum, an Indian, etc.

Soooo, I guess I could go as a stapler or giraffe or something. Like nothing else was allowed. Or get 19 friends and go as a pack of cigarettes. Oh, no, sorry, smoking is bad for kids, so that’s out.

I used to love Hallowe’en. Get my bag of loot at the end, engorge over the next day or two, sleep off the candy-coma, and enjoy.

And costumes were homemade, rarely bought. You came up with ideas, collected what you needed, made your costume over the entirety of October, then came Hallowe’en itself, and it was magic.

Then… see above.

And yeah, there were retards who’d egg houses and cars, but they were thankfully rare. I don’t recall trees being TPed. Shaving cream, yeah, but that was soap that washed off. Nothing really destructive.

Yeah, I sound old, but we really did have fun on Hallowe’en.

Today, it’s just another day. Last year, not a single doorbell ring. The year before, maybe 2-3.

I didn’t even buy any candy this year. Most likely I’d just end up eating it myself over the weekend.

After 3 straight years of that I stopped trying.

I remember those fun times back in the day. It’s pretty sad what it has turned into.

Fell asleep right here on the couch, missed my stories. “Westworld” was on, woke up for like 10sec to see the burnt corpse keel over then try to get up, and lights out again until now, feeding time at the zoo.

Doorbell’s loud af, would’ve jarred me awake had it rung… nothing.

Oh well. Maybe I’ll treat myself tomorrow and pick up some marked-down candy at CVS or something.

Think the last time I even had any candy was last year’s day-after-Hallowe’en.
