Where has BLF been all my life

For years I thought I was the only one who

- would hope and pray for a blackout just to show off my newly created flashlights

- would mow at night just to use a headlamp

- would bring a flashlight with me to run errands even though it was in the middle of the day

  • ride my bike only at night because of all the MR16 LED lights attached to it

Now I find this site and realize that I am not alone (there are even some that are crazier than I here)

I am ready to take my hobby and passion to the next level. After spending a week looking around this site, I learned a ton. Mostly how to spend more money. My first “real” flashlight is on order with a lot of add on’s (L2T). I can see me in a few years becoming one of those guys who put his flashlights in the china cabinet.

Thanks to all of you for making this forum so much fun to read.

Quick first question:
I am in the Dallas area and would really like to see a lot of these flashlights first hand before buying them. I think I am partial to the 18650 types. Are there any stores in Texas I could go to to try some of this stuff out? trade shows?

Take care!

Welcome to BLF, never too bright!

I know lighthound has a store in texas, but it is 4 hours away from you according to google maps.

Lucky dog :)! I think that both lighthound(.com) and sbflashlights are in Texas somewhere. I’m not sure if sbflashlights has a physical B&M store, but I think that lighthound does (think there’s a pic of their storefront on theire website somewhere).

While you’re at it, and if you visit with them, take some pics, and do a “review” of the stores. That would be very cool :)!

I would be interested where it is at cuz I travel around Texas as part of my work.

They're both in the houston area.

Hey scaru!

Wouldn’t you drive 4 hours to a flashlight store? I would if there were one around here (VA, like you, I think)!

Home Depot and REI is the closest we get here :)…

Just looked them up and they are both in Houston. Next time I go to Houston, I will leave a day early and visit both stores, take pictures and let you all know what I think. I am sure I will be kind-a star-struck

Welcome to the family, NTB! Seems like you will fit right in with the rest of us crazies. :D

We have lots of members near you, maybe some might be willing to meet with you for an evening of flashlighting? That way you can see many lights in person.

I just checked on their website, and it looks like sbflashlights doesn’t have a physical store :(…

Hi and welcome ntb.

I’m a bit worried now as JohhnyMac has suggested that we are all crazies here. I wished you had warned me earlier as it would off saved me a lot off visits to the shrinks. I feel better now.

You pop in for a chat with Old-Lumens.

I hope you enjoy your stay & keep coming back, never too bright!

He looked into a flashlight one night

It seemed not to be working quite right

But his vision was gone

when on high it came on

well he said he was never too bright ...

( don't mind me , this is my peculiar form of crazy )

Welcome to Blf Not too bright

Welcome Never Too Bright.

Yea, we’ve all been afflicted. Welcome to the club.

Welcome to BLF, pal. We’re lovers of lights (and knives).

Don't bother getting a Digital multi meter .

you can check 18650's like you test 9 volts Just stick em on your tongue
