In portuguese they’re called “lanternas” while a lantern is called “lampião”.
Variations such as “torchlight” or “pocket light” for “flashlight” are passable, but “torch” isn’t.

So,Why the hell I keep seeing people distorting endlessly words by doubling some letters, or changing them. Why someone when another replies to him using the same word but corrected doesn’t wonder if it’s him or the other that have made the mistake……whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy??!
ex. hoping (to hope for) = hoping => hopping (which means something totally different to me)
ex kernel => kernal when referring to android/linux
the “hoppppppping” thing is just an example but people keeps doubling the letter unpunished grrrrr |( |( |( whyyyyyy?? seems strange as I’m the most ingnorant in this world but hey, this thing drives me nuts
I recall from an earlier discussion in this forum that there was a consensus about not criticizing each others level of English knowledge and usage. We do as best we can.

In my country almost everyone call them as torchlights because we follow British English system here. But as I hang around more on BLF which is an American based forum I am getting used to call them as flashlights now lol.
