im building a flashlight, i want to put a tir in it since i prefer those over reflectors, but im not quite sure where to find a tir that size. im planning on using an xhp 50.2. any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Weird size. Sure you can’t make do with a 20?
Use a 20, and you can then specify the beam angle, whether clear, frosted, pebbled, circular or elliptical, etc. You can get 'em from amazon, even, cheap enough to buy a variety pack and try what makes you happiest.
Otherwise just goggle “carclo” and see what they might have, and who distributes. Forgot offhand who’s the other Big Name in TIRs, but maybe someone else could chime in.
Oh yeh, 5050 is standard XM size (XM-L, -L2, etc.), so it’s an easy fit.
i just want it to fit lol, so i dont care about frosted vs clear, beam angle, etc. i would prefer if i could get the 24 since i dont want the optic sliding around
Browse the Carclo and Ledil websites.
Could get a 26 and shave 1mm from the periphery…
This Convoy TIR for the S21A/S21B might work for you.
It’s 23.3mm wide, the height isn’t listed:
23.3mm lens for S21A S21B with SST40 XML2 XHP50.2 5050 LED
I found some 26 x 15.8 in my parts bin. I think shaving the 26 to 24 wouldn’t be a problem. But is 15.8 too tall? Is there a clear lens you could omit to make 15.8 work? If you’re interested I could find the link to where I got them (I know it was Aliexpress over a year ago).
Ledil Emily is 26mm x 14.8mm. It’s easy to trim the diameter on those since they have a sharp edge.
