Im trying to decide on which Acebeam X75 i should buy. I was leaning towards the XHP70.3 6500k 67,000 lumens for the throw but im concerned it may be too throwy for a nice casual walk in the woods. I dont want to lose the wow factor of 80k lumens. In addition it would be nice to have xhp70.2 5000k so its easier on the eyes.
Thoughts?
I have used the 5000k 70.2 version, it is very nice. I wouldn’t really want more throw, the backscatter and spill is blindingly bright.
Bump
5000K would be my choice. I only tolerate cold CCTs in lights that are very throwy, and IIRC the X75 is a brute force flooder (meaning that it only reaches distance by being an incredibly bright floodlight.) Using a 6500K light close-up is not pleasant IMO.
Going from 80K to 75K lumens to get a nicer CCT is nothing to fret over. The way our eyes perceive light, it would only be like 2-3% dimmer. Not enough to be perceptible.
I’d be tempted to get the throwier 70.3 HI emitter in the hopes that the backscatter would be less and also because the 70.3 HI has less tint-shift than the 70.2
So the xhp 70.3 6500k will likely be a warmer color temperature than the xhp70.2 6500k?
No, but the beam color would be significantly more uniform than that of the 70.2.
Yeah the 70.2 beam will be extremely ugly because of tint shift. Get the HI version!
I ordered the xhp70.3. Vinh said it was the one he would buy. It was between the xhp70.2 5000k and the xhp70.3. I appreciate your suggestions. I welcome continued conversation with your opinions!
