As the title says, among the m1, m2 and c8 which is the best? I already have the m1-u2 and it’s a great light.
Hey, George! Among just those three lights, the M2 is the most floody. If you really want floody go for the S2 or S3. They are SUPER floody!
Thanks m8. How about the heat consumption with s2 and s3? I’ m gonna use them for fishing and it will need to be 2-2.5h on high. For this purpose the m1 is great without getting too warm
The smaller ones get hot as hell on high and right quickly too! Sick with the M1 and put some diffuser film on the lens of you need more flood.
if you have a m1 already, i wouldnt go with the m2 or c8, not big enough difference to fork out another $20 imo.
the c8 just throws a bit further and not really more floody.
yes the S series are the flooders but they do get warm pretty quick.
for fishing, have you ever though of using a headlamp? i find it much more practical since it leaves my hands free.
the uf h6 is a nice one.
or you may want to try a zoomie, they are great flooders.
sipik sk98 clone will do fine.
I have a couple of M2s and find them to be an excellent ‘all-around’ light - very reasonable throw, but with plenty of flood for general use. I also like the gradual transition across the lighted area - no ‘hard-edged’ spot. For somewhat better throw, I like a Convoy L1. (That light unfortunately seems to be no longer available from FastTech, but I-O offers it under another name as a host….they call it a “T-10”.)
The S series is remarkable; my favorite is the S3. Floody as all get out, but even the 1800 mA version lights up a 50’ radius with very useable illumination. I’ve used a pair of them in a Nitecore headband with great satisfaction. I’m in the process of hot-rodding one with a Q-lite driver and an XML-2 emitter, but I suspect it’ll rarely see ‘high’.
I feel that throw isn’t everything. It might impress the newbies, but I usually want a good bit of peripheral lighting as well.
I’ll admit it - it’s just fun to acquire more lights…
I started this with the stuff I had on hand, but decided to go whole hog and ordered some ‘revised’ Q-lite drivers (to get the low-low) and some XM-L2 T6-3C Noctigon emitters from I-O. I’ll do this one as soon as the parts show up.
I’m thinking it’s going to be like a VW beetle chassis with a 460 Ford engine….it should have light oozing out between the seams. I might have to add o-rings just to keep all that light in!
I’ll let the board know how it turns out.
Convoy name<->size :
S-small
M-medium
L-large
?
I never really thought about it, but you could be onto something there….whatever they are, I have to say I’ve never had one that disappointed me. They seem to be the best value for the money of anything I’ve come across so far.
