Edc, anything thats new/ current interests.
However it always falls back to the D10, a really worn out one for general use, one of the less scratched ones for the soft work shirts with low sscratching potential
Not even the car so much as the lawnmower. weedwacker, hedge trimmer, snowwblower, chain saw, snowmobile and the dirtbike. The two strokes seam to constantly need maintenance that include spark plug changes and you really don't want mud or sand dropped in the hole.
Of all the lights that I have on my last climb the Xeno E03 XML NW with Fenix diffuser is the most useful, set it up as our camp light hanging from a tree and it lights the whole camp even on AA. Due to this I bought another one(I regret selling my spare.Hehe). I even left the light on low mode hanging from the tree until morning, as I woke up late(7AM), my buddies turned it off for me and I tested it if it still have power and still lights up. This setup is my best lantern so far, I would even rate this better than my bigger lantern. I barely needed my headlamp as the light from the lantern is adequate enough plus I hate when the bugs fly all over my face. Lol
I’m still building the collection, so I’m not anywhere near settling for a particular light. But since I assembled my SF L2T with a MF 3-mode XM-L and a TF Flame, I’ve not wanted to carry anything else with me…but my new L2M build with the same drop in and a Flame 18350 is probably going to bump it. Secondary pocket light that is small enough and powerful enough to make it a no-brainer EDC is the TF Mini-01 I just got yesterday. Always have a SK68 or clone in my man-bag.
I live right up against a desert preserve here in Phoenix, and take my dog out nightly - and that is the time I spend playing with my new and old torches. Also received an HD2010 yesterday, and will be spending the next several nights at least playing with that beast out back, looking for coyotes, or just impressing myself with the beam power…
I have a few EDC lights that I currently rotate:Jetbeam RRT-01, Sunwayman V11R high-CRI, and my modded Sipik SK58.
My favorite and the one I EDC the most is my modded Sipik SK58. At 2.8 amps it’s the brighest of my EDC lights, and with its neutral T6 emitter and small reflector it has the best looking beam pattern of all my lights in flood mode. It’s also quite flexible since it can zoom for shining at things in the distance and has a ramping interface with 24 brightness settings and shortcuts to high and low (using a Dr.Jones custom-programmed Nanj 105c driver).
The downside is I can’t run it at max for more than a few minutes at a time without it getting way too hot. I had an accident a couple weeks ago where it accidentally turned on at max in my pocket and I didn’t realize it for awhile. When I finally took it out the light was still running, but the entire light was too hot to touch without being burned. I managed to take out the battery but it still took probably 10-15 minutes for it to cool completely. The light seemed undamaged, but a week later I noticed some flickering. I disassembled it and the spring on the back of the driver board fell off.
I tried to repair it using the existing driver with no luck. Fortunately I had a spare duplicate driver which I put in and the light is now working fine. I did however, remove a spacer I had in the switch to make it harder to press. This is one light I don’t want turning on accidentally in the pocket again.
Most used was my q5 c8, followed by my ultrafire 2x18650 tulip head zoomy (c8 at work - so cheap, not bothered if it got beat up) zoomy did tail stand duty on the bed side cabinet for baby feeding in the night. Currently, my m10 is filling both roles, and is also the light I grab to take the bins out, I used to grab any in used light to play with.
Reading all the replies, I need a holster, and a key chain sized light to add to my lanyard, plus I need to rationalize my keys a bit to make room lol.
Yup, I also use a sk68 clone the most, in this case an ultraok zs-2 which I bought by accident and then bought three more after I saw how good they were. Doesn’t get too hot too fast AND seems brighter than other 68s. Always with a 14500 TFF. What’s an AA?
Why? Bright and small. Case containing 4 extra TFFs and the light fits in the side pocket of my perennially worn cargo pants. Don’t even known it’s there until I need it, like a couple nights ago finding our parking section at the OC fair, after the genius parking lot crew thought it would be a dazzling good idea to shut off all the parking lot lights just as the concert let out. Guess that’s why they work in a parking lot and are not in charge of the country’s missile defense.
Mine is a 1 AA mod that I did. Started with a broken 1 AA light, tried a CR123 with it and fried both the Luxeon Rebel and driver. Sanded down a 5mm LED to a flat top, and made a small 20 mA driver for it. It probably does 1 lumen out the front (estimated with the Zebralight SC51c as the reference) but works great around the house at night. Draws ~17 mA from a half drained battery so probably ~5 mA to the LED.
