Which movie did you watch lastֻ

I plan to delight myself with Tarkovsky’s Stalker for maybe 7’th or 8’th time to go like Reinhold Messner one deeper layer into my soul in my messed up life and world…
But I’ll need a good lantern for roaming around…
Any suggestion?

1 Thank

This lantern is inexpensive and really nice.
The sale ends soon, though.

Thank you… but I need some warm light to melt my soul…

1 Thank

Do you mean warm white?
The lantern can go from 2700K to 6500K, or in other words, from warm white to cool white.

I didn’t see this… Thank you 2700k seems just perfect.

1 Thank

Yep, I agree.
My favorite tint is 2700K.

If you are not familiar with Tarkovsky’s films i recomand this video…

Oh don’t get me wrong…
I’m neither russian…
No fun of it…
Just a fan of Cinema… and a fun of lanterns and flashlights…

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

I recently saw this and had a pretty good time with it. For me, the runtime went by quickly despite it being a 2.5 hrs movie. It’s not as intense as Fury Road, but that’s a tough act to follow. I think the biggest problem with it is that we know more or less how it will end because Furiosa is one-handed, alive, and driving a War Rig in the next movie. I generally liked the vehicles better in Fury Road, although there is a pretty nice 6-wheeler monster truck in this which was awesome. Chris Hemsworth’s performance was maybe a bit hammy for my taste–I’ll know better after re-watching it. I can definitely say now though that his nose in this is distracting. His face is too recognizable. The prosthetic hook nose looks real enough but I know how Chris looks so it was distracting AF.

Ultimately I think this is a fine action movie, but I think they would have had another great one if they’d made a sequel instead of a prequel.

If you like Russian cinema, which is really interesting watch those:
Aleksey Balabanov movies, and

and of course:

Oh man… I’ve seen Siberiade and Come and See … long ago but the rest of them I have to watch…
No i’m not into russian cinema in particular but more into the fundamental guestions…
Like ho am i? Where am i coming from?.. and where am i going?..
And a good light, no meter what kind might be helpful, and that’s why i’ve been watching this forum for the last 2 or maybe 3 years ago.

Thank you.

Possession. Bit of a weird one to say the least but was well worth the time and followed on from watching In the Mouth of Madness and Event Horizon as I was having a Sam Neill binge. Oldies but goldies.

I saw Godzilla Minus One (2023).

This movie is extremely good.
I saw an English dubbed version and the voice acting is top notch.
The CGI and special effects are impressive.
I think this is currently the highest rated Godzilla movie on IMDb.
I like Japanese culture, but I haven’t seen many Godzilla movies because most of them are not that great, in my opinion.
This is an excellent Godzilla movie.
Although this movie has horror elements, I don’t think it would scare many people over the age of twelve.
The music in this movie is pretty good.
Some aspects of this movie remind me of the original Jaws, though Jaws (1975) is a better movie overall and I find Jaws to be terrifying.
Parts of Godzilla Minus One are a bit slow, but the ending is just about perfect, and I’m really glad I saw this film.

1 Thank

Ah, tnx for the reminder. Was meaning to watch that…

1 Thank

Godzilla Minus One is the best film I’ve seen in theaters so far this year. Pretty amazing considering January is usually the month where all of the iffy movies come out.

They still haven’t released the blu-ray or 4k blu-ray yet (for US region) but it’s an easy add to my collection when it does finally show up.

1 Thank

My 9-year-old loved it. So did I.

I see that The Strangers: Chapter 1 (2024) is now available to me.

Considering that I don’t remember really liking the previous movie in the series, and this one might be worse, I think I’m going to skip Chapter 1.
I hear that Chapters 2 & 3 will be released eventually.
I hope that they somehow improve this series as I remember liking the first movie in the series.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018)

Saw this for the first time recently. It was good, but it didn’t feel as complete as the first movie. Seems like a lot of build-up without much payoff, as if the next movie will contain the payoff. Hopefully they actually get the third movie made.

Secondhand lions.
All the Best, Jeff

I saw Police Story 4: First Strike (1996).

This movie is great overall.
I saw an English dubbed version.
The dub job is okay.
The worst voice acting is courtesy of Jackie Chan because his English isn’t very good.
The music is quite nice.
The plot is convoluted, but you don’t have to follow the plot to enjoy the movie.
The movie is very fast paced, and the action sequences are top notch.
Many aspects of this film remind me of the James Bond franchise, except this movie is much quicker paced, has crazier stunts, and has worse acting.
I give the movie a PG-13 rating for plenty of violence and a bit of nudity.
