Which movie did you watch lastֻ

I’ve seen very few of the F13 series, but I liked JX.

They did not take the movie seriously, and you can tell they had fun making it. Seemed to me it was almost a parody of itself.

Almost like, “Yeah, we’ve run out of ideas (‘Jason Goes To The Evil-Spock Dimension’??), so we’ll send him to space, and have a blast making an intentionally-bad movie.”, and that’s what it was.

I watched it in that mindset, that it was one of those hormedy movies, and didn’t take it seriously as “horror”, and enjoyed it.

Just started watching it, mainly because Hans Zimmer wrote the score. Apparently he was battling covid while writing it. Seems pretty good so far.

Once (2007)

A struggling musician and vacuum cleaner repairman in Dublin, Ireland meets a recent Czech immigrant on the street by chance. They play some music together in a music shop (he plays guitar, she plays piano) and sing, and their immediate connection is obvious. Their friendship develops tentatively, as each of them has had recent troubles in their romantic lives, but over the course of several days they work on writing songs together - he writes the music, and she writes the lyrics. Their partnership works well enough to allow them to record the songs in a studio and make a demo tape. He then decides to go to London to try his luck in the music scene there. Will she go along with him? Will their obvious attraction blossom into full romance? All I will say is that the ending is refreshingly realistic - which is to the credit of everyone who made this little gem of a movie.

Regardless of the low budget, this movie is an excellent drama for viewers who like their movies true to life, as well as those who enjoy original, personal music sung without a slick commercial gloss. Highly recommended.

Nice find! Marketa Irglova is actually a pretty good artist/musician.

I guess Glen Hansard is very well known in Ireland, too.

I haven’t heard of either one until today, so thanks!

I’m happy that I could find a movie of interest to you. I had not heard of either Irglova or Hansard, either, until I saw the movie - but I was impressed by both of them.

ok.
based upon previous
recommendations:
John Wick 1 and 3.
did not watch 2.

1. i have a “soft spot” for animals dying in movies, even if it is “just a movie”.
2. eventually, i researched all of Wick’s weapons. wish i had bought one or two before prices tripled.
3. due to Pause, Rewind, and Slow-Motion both movies lasted +4 hours each, but that was my fault.

the movies themselves were entertaining.
i will watch 2 since 1 and 3 were alright.

sort of like: Pirates of the Caribbean, or Resident Evil…this could go on and on and on.

I saw Freddy vs Jason (2003).

[One of my favorite movies of all time.]

This movie is excellent.

The acting is very good for a horror movie.

Most of the violence is done very well.

The plot is more complicated than the other Friday the 13th movies, and is pretty darn good.

The sound effects are almost as good as Part 1.

Overall, the film is better than Part 1, which is saying a lot.

The ending sequence is superb.

I think the filmmakers had a much bigger budget than other movies in the series, and it shows.

I haven't seen hardly any of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, so I cannot compare this film to that series, but I do plan on watching that series soon.

What a fun movie, especially compared to most Friday the 13th movies.

I saw Friday The 13th (2009).

It's a pretty good reboot.

The acting is decent, and the violence is done well.

It's about as good as Part 4, which means I liked it.

The ending sequence isn't the best, but it's okay.

Now that I have seen every Friday the 13th movie, I will sort of rank them.

The best of the series are Part 1 and Freddy vs Jason.

Also great are Part 4 and the 2009 reboot.

If you like those movies, check out Part 6 and Part 9.

The other six movies in the series aren't all that great.

The last movie I watched was Little Women - the Greta Gerwig one. Also currently watching The Undoing (I know it’s not a movie, but damn is it good). There’s a lighting aspect of one of the scenes when Nicole Kidman is called by Hugh Grant at night. She hangs up the phone and turns off the bedside lamp and there is a lag from the time the lamp shuts off to when the change of lighting can be initiated by the crew. It made for a really cool effect. Let me know if anyone else has watched that show and noticed that moment.

I saw The Undoing, and I think I noticed that light go off slowly. In general, I was not terribly impressed with the series, but I know many viewers liked it.

saw The Croods: A New Age mostly because my wife liked the first one. (she likes sloths…dun dun DUNNN!)

Not as good as the first one. Maybe even a bit more juvenile, but that might be because the singing and “mushy bits” kinda irritated me.

I saw a rating somewhere that gave it 56/100. I’d say that’s accurate.

That said, with the dearth of entertainment out there, I’d say it’s higher than “bottom of the barrel”.

I saw A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984).

It's decent.

Most of the older actors can act, but most of the younger ones cannot act very well.

The movie has good music, but parts of the movie are frustrating to watch.

I thought that I saw this movie back in 1984, but apparently I saw a similar movie called Dreamscape (1984).

I wouldn't recommend this movie, but I will watch all of the sequels, even though I'm not really looking forward to it.

“Dreamscape” was pretty kewl. I’d recommend it.

I was just a kid when I saw it, and any scary movies that I watched back then really frightened me.

I'll watch it for a second time after I go through all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies.

Saw Hereditary (2018) with Gabriel Byrne and Toni Collete. I had a chance to see this several times since October but kept putting it off as it didn’t seem that good to me, and then over this last weekend it happened to be on so I watched it.

It scored 7/10, 79% rotten tomatoes, and 87% Metacritic…

There’s some foreshadowing in the beginning for some very horrible stuff that happens and where the plot is going. I think that put me off the movie, and also didn’t care for Gabriel Byrnes character.

It actually had some very good plot vehicles/elements and ideas, but I just couldn’t bring myself to like the movie. Maybe it was just me and the mood I was in. The ratings seem to disagree.

just like azj, Hereditary.
it is my son’s favorite movie.
it might be my least favorite.
(so far this year, anyway)

Actually I forgot to post (I think) that about a week or so ago I re-saw Hot Fuzz (2007) Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and even Bill Nighy & Tymothy Dalton (uncredited),. If for some godawful reason you haven’t seen this movie, WTF is wrong with you!? (j/k)

It’s a comedy about a “too perfect” London cop who gets sent to a town in the boondocks because he’s making all the other coppers look bad…

I’ll watch any Simon Pegg movie…Shaun of the Dead, this one, The Worlds End, etc. Also the TV series SPACED that he did before anyone in the US had heard of him.

He was pretty good in the Star Trek movies too :stuck_out_tongue:

+1 Hot Fuzz. Brilliant movie.

I saw A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985).

This movie is bad.

The acting of the younger actors is better, but the movie is much worse.

The movie is not very entertaining, and many parts are just plain stupid.
