Now that I have discovered the joys of NW I want a massively bright multi XM-L NW light. I have a TR-J12 that I love, but its CW, I could convert it but that’s $50 in LEDs alone, I would rather just get a new light that’s NW from the get go. I am looking at the King, Dry and Apex 5x. Basically which one is best, lol. Dry wins on price and modes but not build etc. Overall just want a nice bright NW light.
My King puts out 2250 OTF lumens but its CW. I hear that the NW versions are about equal in output. Add in the stellar build quality and it gets my vote.
I’m not sure what bins they’re using for the DRY NW or WW now but the 3C’s they use on the other two are on the cool side of neutral. They’ll probably be >5000K at the levels the King is driven. 4D/5A is basically the ideal bins IMO so that should be a factor especially since you’re gunning for a premium non-cool tint.
I say go for a Skyray King! it beats the dry in battery life, and it’s pretty cheap. You can get it from around $55 including shipping.
It’s super bright and it had semi-decent throw.
I just ordered a tn30 NW but it’s costly…the king and the Dry seems to be the best NW budget light from what I can see…I have a cool Dry and I love it…
If you want a NW version you can get it for around $7 more if you negotiate with the seller. I know I got my NW for $55, but I didn’t get an extra charge, I just asked for one and I got one.
