Zebralight SC53W
I have a Mark IBS, cree XP-L chip, too old.
But i like the design.
GTmicro – surprises the shiite out of people when they see it blast a pencil-beam over to the trees on the next block, and then they see how puny it is to generate that kind of “reach”.
TS10, the OG version – beautiful floody beam, favorite “coffee-table light”, 'though the 14500 is anæmic and burns down waaay too quickly. An 18650 version of that would be a nigh-perfect EDC light.
Acebeam Pokomon – great overall light, 'though prefer the 2AA version.
Xeno E03 – built like a freaking tank, especially with the “finger grips” adding some nice bulk (and grip), the WW version is nice, but the M/L/H-nomem UI kinda bites (but is 100% predictable).
SP10pro – hesitated for a bit, but given that it does ramping and other kewl stuff, I decided to add it. Biggest grex is having to twirl the little beastie for 20min in the dark just to find the “on” switch.
Emisar D3AA. Whatever flavor.
Emisar D3AA. I would like to give an honourable mention to the Convoy T6 though.
I love my Jaxman E3 modded with an SFT40 and Convoy 5A driver, it’s a beast of a host!
Skilhunt/Eskte M150 V4 is pretty great.
IF I had to use AA
D3AA
I would pick my Emisar D3AA.. recessed button does not turn on in pocket, and the driver uses NoPWM.. nice close range floody beam.. similar to TS10 (whose form factor I prefer, but it does not work on AA)
I like the D3AA for its lack of PWM and multifuel capability.. I use USB-C 14500
I like it enough that I have purchased more than one
Not Fan of the form factor (oversized head), so I just use it at home as a desk and bedside light. I dont carry it clipped, because it acts like a cheese grater..
Pokelit AA Ti:
I found the Pokelit AA UI really frustrating
Im not used to a momentary forward clicky.. partially pressing the button turns the light on, and it advances modes if done repeatedly.. I would not trust it in my pocket (the Ti model can not be physically locked out)
plus it has Last Mode Memory, which means I never remember what level it will turn on at, so I ended having to cycle through brightness levels to get the one I wanted.. (and it uses PWM)
resold immediately
Skilhunt E2A:
Tried a Skilhunt E2A.. works OK, has a good beam, but not a fan of the slow PWM
resold immediately
Zebralight SC53c N
Very nice EDC host but AA Zebra has higher Flicker Index than D3AA, and I do not love Zebra UI, prefer Anduril
The AA Zebra has a great form factor that slides in and out of pocket without grating because the body is smooth, no knurling, nor sharp ridges (D3AA has both those issues). The Zebra clip is excellent, low profile, with strong retention.
I dont like to use Eneloops because they require a separate charger, I use USB-C 14500, but the present model is not 14500 capable.. the SC54c N does work on AA Lithium Primary.. that would be my battery choice if I was traveling or away from an Eneloop charger..
To me Eneloops are not a desirable power source Unless the light can not use 14500..
I did not keep my SC54c N, I bought a second SC53c N that is USB-C 14500 compatible.
my favorite power source is USB-C 14500, they work in my Zebras, Emisar D2’s, Emisar D3AA’s, and Wurkkos TS10’s
Convoy T8 (SFT-25R)
Sounds so familiar
And I agree 100%. While I like theD3AA for so many reasons, I don’t carry it, for that reason.
I like my Eagtac D25A. They are available with different emitters. Including a high CRI 219C. Dual Fuel. Pretty stiff flush reverse clicky tail switch with low probability of unintentional activation. 4 Levels with twist the head for turbo. Always starts in the lowest mode (unless you forget to untwist the head from the turbo mode) Nice clip. But it is a bit longer than some of the others mentioned here. Not enough that it bothers me, though. (I forgot to mention, it tail stands and works well with a diffuser…which I like!)
I sure wish they were able to make the TS10 dual fuel. If they could have, that light would be a good candidate.
I recently got one of those (T8 25R). I like the little light and the 5K has a nice CCT and tint. The head is a bit bulky for pocket carry, at least compared to the other lights mentioned here so far.
The T6 should still be fine if you want something slimmer, as long as you’re cool with a bigger hotspot and less throw.
Convoy T6 and Sofirn SP10V3
I guess mine would be the Convoy T3 that’s supposed to be headed my way - it’s the only single AA light I own.
I’m still a big user of AA. What’s near the work center today is Convoy T3, Thrunite TH20, Zebralight H54, Wuben E6, Sofirn Sp10 Pro.
All modded to some extent, I like sapphire lenses in the work collection.
Easy to pair lights up for different needs or expected usage.
me too!
it was rather expensive to buy a 1mm x 19.3mm Sapphire lens for my Zebra (and I had to rely on McBob to open the light for me)
I like that format too. Even a 200 lumen light serves most of my needs today when I check in the outside cat food or look under the couch. I use them in a couple of radios too, they only need charging every few weeks.
I like that out of 11 lights in the poll, hardly any of them get a mention ![]()
Just a nod to the Convoy T6 and the Pokémon, we’re mainly Wurkkos TS10, HD10 and Hanklights D3AA. Of which I do have an assortment of 11 ![]()
The only one I have on his list is the Pokelit. While it is a very nice light for what it is. It is not at the top of my list for AA lights.
