Which XHP35 HI to buy?

Just opened up a ZL SC600 mkiii with XHP35 HD and I want to swap to XHP35 HI (or 35.2 HI).

I see some various CCTs available from Kaidomain and MTN. Can anyone who has purchased recently give some recommendation on whether the tint was nice, which to buy and which avoid?

The exact CCT doesn’t matter so much as getting one that is not too green or otherwise displeasing to the eye.

If you are brave enough to try slicing the LEDs, the rosiest ones tend to be the 70-80cri HD versions. Other than that, it is kind of a lottery, with Cree doing silent revisions to the LEDs and kind of inconsistent binning. HD versions tend to have some angular tint shift, so the beam usually isn’t as pretty, unless they’re dedomed/sliced.

AFAIK the HD 4000k 70cri when sliced is relatively nice, but there is always some luck involved with binning.

Ok, interesting. I remember reading that slicing XHP35 HD resulted in pretty bad tint, or maybe that was with full dedome. I suppose there is at least nothing to lose by slicing the emitter currently installed.

Other than that, leaning toward trying the 35.2 HI available from MTN first. I think it is at least one of the higher output bins, whereas Kaidomain typically doesn’t provide much info.

Seems the opposite is true in this case: I see no details on the chromaticity BIN for the MTN XHP35.2 HI 5000K (D4 flux BIN) where as the Kaidomain lists their XHP35.2 HI 5000K as also D4 and chromaticity of 3A. I dropped one into an Emisar D1(V2) and it was lovely and neutral. Both are probably only 70 CRI though so you might want to source something better if you’re going to seal it inside a ZebraLight.

Ah gotcha, yeah I totally missed that.

Another good one from Kaidomain might be this B4, 40G: http://kaidomain.com/Cree-XHP35_2-HI-Neutral-White-4000K-CRI90-SMD-3535-LED?search=Xhp35%20hi

I may order both and see which one I prefer.

Kaidomain’s 35.2 6500K 80cri is also good. Cold white, but good one. At least mine are.

Installed 4000K 90 cri XHP35.2 HI from Kaidomain. I like the tint. I feel like the focus is a little off, because I was expecting a tighter hotspot (especially compared to the SC64w HI). But there aren’t any noticeable artifacts and the beam is generally good aside from that expectation.
