I've been trying to sell some flashlights and headlamps locally but for most of my posted lights the PetzlTikka2 headlamp get asked the most. Among my items this is locally available and expensive. The light is good but for 40 lumens and outdated emitter, there are better options.
Maybe non flashaholics just don't like to risk on unknown brand to them(research before buying is not that risky at all) and most still think maglite is king.
I sold someone a solarforce L2r and told me after the few days that's he's now getting addicted and eying some brighter lights like the Fenix Tk35.
I don't just sell them lights but made them knowledgeable on the best light out there and making a new flashaholic in the process.
About Petzl, Ledlenser, Mag etc... Branding, branding & branding.
After you get certain amount of respect in your brand, you can pretty much sell what you like ;)
Anyway, flashlight is an item most of common people use for mere minutes and not very often. Also, very few have about any reference at all. And if they have, they have tested it a while ago maybe in daylight. I mean; how many have seen someone buying a flashlight and comparing beams / output side by side in dark conditions before purchase? Where is it even possible?
I had a Jetbeam BC10, Solarforce L2 XML T6 a Trustfire Z1, a WF-139 charger out for sale for a few weeks. There were a almost no views and few inquiries for 2 weeks...
During the 3rd week, a typhoon was said to be passing the Philippines - Lo and Behold, In 2 days the items were all sold and shipped, A few even asked me to sell (and bought) my used li-ions.
