IMO the real silliness is charging $100 for the standard aluminum model. It has a unique interface but I think there are nicer and more capable lights out there for that price.

I agree. $89 would make more sense. I was an early adopter of the A8 and paid $55 for it. Now, you can get them for $15 less. I waited on the newer A5 and got it for $30 USD. I really like it. Worth paying a bit more than the clones for a more refined quality body and switch. The S21 is seriously impressive, but I’m going to wait. Resale is often a large depreciation, so picking off one let go by someone is a good way to go.
It’s glued under the head. Only can remove the tailcap.

I would definitely buy at the right price. IMHO, its a $75 light at best.
