Will bleach damage anodizing?

Just curious since i used a light before washing my hands, i washed the light with lots of water afterwards, but i’m still wondering

What kind of bleach?

Household kind is corrosive to aluminium but not sure about anodized:

household bleach

Domestic bleach won’t have much effect on aluminium unless you submerge it in it for days.

Chlorine is not good for aluminium in general - but I’d not worry about dipping a light in domestic bleach. Unless it was for a few days.

In general, alkaline solutions (which bleach is) are bad for aluminium. But pure aluminium is something you are not likely to see.

Aluminium almost instantaneously forms a very inert oxide layer. Anodising is about making that layer thicker.

Attack it with a corrosive enough alkali and it’ll dissolve. But under normal circumstances it won’t.
