this looks pretty nice, clip it on a cap and go.
warm white option
a clone of the small On The Road, that is a clone of Olight
if quality is good, very interesting.
Well, I thought that too and I just didn’t buy it yet because I don’t have 1634o cells, nor ®CR123!
But I guess the specs are really cool and this is way more cheap than the OTR M3 and the Olights!
I may get one of these and if I do I’ll let people know about the quality
watch for twisty switches on very small lights
it is a way to make it shorter- eliminating the button part at the end
a better way is to have a side button
jetbeam II is twisty
just saying
maybe you like twisty
oddly enough i think it is more reliable- wait, sorry i meant ‘durable’
(i have just had a lumintop tool go bad due to a leaky battery.
the button switch in the end has about 8 parts, all different metals,
steel touches aluminum, touches steel again, cannot disassemble to clean
apparently alkaline crud got in there and corroded probably the aluminum parts—
ANNOYING
before this i thought what a great tiny light
now it is just something else i had to waste 2 hours on
it is still intermittent
twisty switches don;t do that-plus they make a smaller light
Well ordered that small USB charging thingy
TK wants a BLF special like that so having an Olight, On The Road i3 (I still not understand why the M3 gets the attention while the i3 is much more versatile with its zoom) do this one at ~$13 can stand next to it while contemplating if a special is fun to do
AliExpress heck yeah I love it, one of my first threads was about it, I was (and still am) so positive about it people wanted to mark it spam
Well, mine doesn’t
I have plenty 17mm drivers here - all of them were very loose in there. I measured it out and it was very close to 18mm.
But it doesn’t matter too much - heat transfer to the case is not really good, so you don’t want to put a 2.8A driver in that thing
I’ve never had a sideswitch or tailswitch that didn’t accidentally turn on in my pocket, usually burning down a Li primary ($:money_mouth_face:.
It’s a real treat to look down and see a glow coming from inside my pocket right through the material…
Twisties? Never. If it takes ¼-turn to turn it off, I’ll give it about ¾-turn to be safe. And give it a squeeze (lens and tail) to make sure it doesn’t accidentally turn on. That way you’ll know what’s the minimum you need to unscrew it to make sure it stays off.
Decent twisties are nice and “rubbery” thanks to the O-ring. If it’s loose, you got a crappy light, or already wore down the O-ring. Can’t fault twisties in general for that. That’s why they usually include extra O-rings.
twisties can unscrew accidentally in pocket, nice pieces of metal and a li ion cell rattling around
Only the small AAA SS Vollsion is smart, unscrew to turn on and screw tight to turn off, only one I would carry around for long in my pocket.
