That’s really unfortunate turn of events. I remember getting a giveaway UV light from him more than a year back.
Cross-posted from the sale thread: I have been busy with moving over the last few weeks, but much to my surprise, the promised light arrived (luckily forwarded from my old address.) So although late, OP did come through, and he included a bonus light presumably to try to make the situation right. No communication, but he held up his end of the bargain, so as I said I am removing the derogatory information. I am only one person, but from my point of view although the lack of communication is very concerning, I consider the matter closed to my satisfaction.

I have only had one dealing with CK. All went very well but, he did mention having some severe issues with someone on BLF. I know just a little bit of what it was about but, it’s not really my story to tell so I won’t. This was back in late October 2019. I have no clue if this is the reason for his current status as a seller. I hope all is well with him and I hope everything will get worked out for everyone owed money or product.
As it is with gchart, I don’t condone those practices either. I think ordinary people sometimes get mixed up with extraordinary situations and don’t know how to rectify the issues. It’s a difficult world to stay grounded on sometimes. Everyday that passes seems to increase that difficulty.

I have also been scammed by CK (Dan Gostlin). Do not do any business with him.
Well I now have a stage 4 cancer diagnosis - I wanted to pass some of these along but they’re gone
He said time wasn’t important - may he always feel that way.

I never had any interactions with the guy, but I do remember the CK info saying he was from OH. Maybe even NE OH or Akron. The first google entry for his name is an obituary. Newcomer Family Obituaries - Dan William Gostlin 1954 - 2021 - Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions.
edit I also see he also had a son of the same name, that’s it for my dose of creeping for today I’m not into it and wasn’t involved.
It’s entirely possible that he had moved, but I have a shipping address from Dan in Columbus, OH. And I think from an old conversation from him that he was younger (had little kids, perhaps).
There was a big thread about CK on CPF in the cheers and jeers section. It is not there anymore after one of the crashes there. Basically some people got burned and posted about it. They knew his identity too.

Well - that’s a broad generalization - I was born in Ohio and spent many years with many good people in Ohio. But that’s just my opinion.

traviskeese00 is a scammer that recently appeared on CPF
google shows he also scams other forums, so keep an eye out to avoid him if he shows up here
his modus operandi is, he sent me a photo of a light for sale. He wanted me to pay by venmo. I said I would only use Paypal. His paypal was not working, but he fixed it after I messaged him (via CPF PM)
So I paid by Paypal G&S. He then denied receiving the payment, and failed to respond to any emails sent to the same payment email.
I immediately put a stop payment on the credit card that feeds my paypal, and initiated a dispute with paypal for non receipt of goods (there is no category for “seller denies receiving payment”). Shortly after I got a refund. Obviously the seller had LIED when he said he had not received the payment.
I think the reason I got a refund was because I used Paypal Goods and Services, NOT friends and family, and NOT Venmo.

He was selling a titanium Barrel flashlight that included a Steelflame clip if I recall correctly. He was also including an extra pill, a barrel ring, and some other small parts. We agreed on a price. I trusted the guy because he did have a completed deal here and has been a member here for some time. Foolishly I agreed to his request to pay using F&F. He shipped and gave me a tracking no.
I received the box and all it had in it were the parts. No flashlight. I messaged him and that’s when he started ghosting me. Even though he’s been logged on here. I also messaged him on Candle Power Forums and the same. No response even though he’s been logging on.

Sorry this happened to you.
I will always willingly pay the Reg Palpal fee added to the price rather then fall for the easy scam F&F.
If they do not agree to this, that tells you what you need to know.
That said there are plenty of old timers here that would get payment however they say because of past dealings, reputation etc.

Yeah, I’m really hesitant to pay via Friends & Family.
I think some sellers do that to avoid paying taxes, but it leaves little to no recourse for the buyer if the “deal” turns out to be a scam.
On Blade Forums, they don’t allow sellers to sell via F&F anymore.
Plus, I don’t think it’s allowed on eBay either (because I’ve never been asked to pay via F&F on eBay.)
If BLF didn’t allow payment via F&F, that’d be fine by me, but I’m not in charge around here

I know, I should know better but I try to give seller’s the benefit of the doubt, especially when they have history. I hate G&S myself, not just because of the tax implications but because Paypal starts asking for more information because they start treating you like a business. AARGH!
