Wurkkos TS10 SG Review - Wurkkos beat the cycle?

@Wurkkos_Terry was kind enough to send me a TS10 SG review sample to review! Thanks Terry!

TL;DR at the bottom.

Keep in mind that this is my first review, so it’s not gonna be the best you’ve seen.

What Comes in the Box

  • Light

  • Clip

  • Battery (if you select the “with battery” option)

  • Manual

Important Note:

No charger is included for the 14500 battery, and this model doesn’t support AA batteries, or have integrated charging. You’ll need a compatible charger if you don’t already have one. (Wurkkos does sell a few decent chargers if you need one.)

First Impressions

If you’re familiar with the TS10, you’ll notice some subtle differences with the SG version:

  • Feel in hand: The SG is about 1mm longer, and the button feels slightly stiffer. I’m not sure if this stiffness is unique to the SG or an upgrade in the TS10 series in general.

  • Anodizing: The SG has a slightly chalky feel to its anodizing, similar to some Armytek lights. At first, I wasn’t sure I liked it, but over time, I found the texture improves grip, especially when holding the light with a cigar grip, thanks to the clip ridges.

  • Firmware Version: My SG came with an Anduril firmware version from July 2023 (0713). Fortunately, Wurkkos kept the flashing pads exposed, so I was able to update the firmware easily with a flashing key from the_gchart (on reddit and BLF) and ZFlasher AVR.

  • Battery: It came with a standard Wurkkos brand 14500. Nothing special there. Although I did struggle to remove the orange battery insulator. I had to use tools to knock it out. I think it may have caught on the threads directly above the driver

  • Size: Personally, I’m not a big fan of the smaller size, as it reduces battery life, decreases thermal mass, and feels less comfortable to hold. However, if you prefer compact lights, this size could be ideal for you.

UI

It uses the standard Anduril 2 ui, which I don’t mind as it works great for controlling aux, has many fun/useful features (beacon mode, various strobe modes, and more), and my favourite bit, smooth ramping. Up, and down. I also appreciate how it reads out the voltage of the battery instead of a green>yellow>red led since I know exactly how much battery i have left, and it removes all guessing.

Here is a flow chart showing the UI

Beamshots and Comparison

To give you a clear idea of how the Wurkkos TS10 SG compares to other popular lights, here are beamshots showcasing its performance alongside the TS10, Acebeam E75, and Wurkkos TS11. Each image highlights different aspects of beam quality, throw, and overall usability, helping you see how the TS10 SG stacks up.

Artifact Beamshot (Indoors)

  • Beam Artifacts: The textured TIR lens does create some artifacts when “white wall hunting” (pointing it at a blank white wall). Outdoors, these artifacts aren’t too noticeable or annoying. However indoors it is visible and slightly distracting

I will be comparing 4 lights. The Wurkkos ts10v1 (3xCSP 4000k), the Wurkkos ts10 SG (1xSFT25R 6500k), the Wurkkos ts11 (1xSFT40 6500k) with 18650, and the Acebeam E75 (4x519a 5000k). I chose these lights to give you a comparison between the ts10 and ts10 SG, as well as their larger counterparts

All images are in the order mentioned above. Exposure is locked, and my white balance is set to 5000k

Aux:

The real RGB aux looks fantastic under the textured optic! It makes an interesting beam when on

I uploaded the aux images to Imgur as they were too large to upload here.

The white is pretty similar to the cyan, but its not as close together as it appears in the pictures

Performance

Using the included Wurkkos 14500 battery on turbo, the light heats up and steps down quickly to avoid overheating. With a Vapcell H10 battery, it heats up even faster but offers a bit more brightness.

I was unable to get a good runtime graph with the tools I currently have

My Experience After 125 Days of EDC

I’ve EDCed the TS10 SG for 125 days (since halloween 2024), and overall, I find it to be a good light. I really appreciate how much throw it has, which often allows me to use lower brightness levels which extends battery life. However, I don’t like how quickly high aux drains the battery, about three days from full feels too short, especially given the already small 14500 cell.

Ultimately, I will be switching back to my usual D4V2 with 519A 4500K. The D4V2’s floodier beam pattern suits my needs better, its larger battery capacity provides longer runtimes, and I greatly appreciate the strong magnet. Even though TS10 SG is great in throw and compactness, these trade offs make it not suitable for my daily use.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Great throw for a compact flashlight

  • Chalky anodizing makes nice to use

  • True RGB aux lighting

  • Firmware is easy to update with exposed flashing pads

Cons:

  • Heats up quickly on turbo, especially with high-drain batteries

  • Small size means shorter battery life and less comfortable grip (for me)

  • Minor alignment issue with aux LEDs

Who Is This Light For?

The Wurkkos TS10 SG is for those who want a compact, high-throw EDC light with RGB aux lighting. If you often find that you need more throw but want a small package, this light delivers impressive throw for its size. It’s also a good fit for users who enjoy Anduril 2, and weird little lights

However, if you prioritize longer runtimes, floodier beams, or features like a magnetic tailcap, you may prefer something larger 18650 or 21700 light (like a D4k with lume X1 driver, Acebeam e75, or a fireflylite X4 or X4Q)

Conclusion

The Wurkkos TS10 SG is a fantastic EDC flashlight with excellent throw for its size. If you already have a TS10 and want something with more reach, or if you’re looking for a unique light with good throw in a compact design, the TS10 SG might just be what you’re after.

Rating

8/10 Lumens

Because of this light’s excellent beam, the size of the light, and user Interface choice, I award it 8/10 Lumens

TL;DR:

The Wurkkos TS10 SG is a solid EDC flashlight with a throwy beam, RGB aux, and compact size. It’s bright and capable, but it can run hot on turbo and requires a 14500 charger if you don’t already have one. Not for me, but it might be fore you if you’re looking for a small and throwy light, and don’t mind Andruil 2

I have not been paid, or have been asked to include/not include things in this review. These are my genuine opinions

Nice review.
Field beamshots are missing.

2 Thanks

Thought I was missing something!

Thanks! I’ll update soon

There is an unlikely flashlight which beats it for me - baton3.

This one is 3000K SFT40 so much nicer light, regulated output, smaller size, subjectively better UI…

I’ve been using it for a while as it is quite good EDC light for me, as long as i am not traveling so annoying proprietary charger/cell are not an issue.

As much as i dislike olight in general - funny fact is - baton3 is significantly easier to mod than TS10. There is no glue and as much as press fit bezel is annoying it is much better than having to deal with insane amount of glue wurkkos uses. Also there is no aux gimmick, so no extra tiny wires to desolder/solder and extra stuff on MCPCB to worry about.

2 Thanks

Great review!
