If you had been following the Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread You would already know that Home Depot has just had a clearance sale of their MagLites.
Overly simply put their clearance price “code” is first to reduce the list price by about 5 - 25% and set a price that ends with “00”
After sometime, they will mark it down again, this time, if it isn’t already, 25% off list and use a price that ends with “x6”
After about 6 weeks or so it drops down to 75% off list and THAT price will end with a “x3”
Well, the Maglites have hit the “x3” price, 75% off. When this happens they don’t last long. When it did, I happened to be traveling and was able to round up as many as I could along the way. Some stores cleared them out at $5.03, others were $5.23. Include the sales tax and the average cost to me was about $5.60.
Notice that they contain 2 Duracell “D” cells. Those 2 cells are worth $4 retail
So I have lots of the Xenon Mags (good for modding). I didn’t buy them for myself, so anyone that wants some can PM me. The only colors Home Depot carried was Black, Blue and Silver. I have more Silver colored ones than Black or Blue.
The cost to you will be my cost + tax + shipping. If I can accommodate all the requests, the more lights shipped per box, the lower shipping cost per light. On the other hand I would like to give anyone that wants some to have a chance. Let’s see how it goes. After the PM’s come in I will sort it all out.
I am posting this offer in the HD thread first, then later to the general forum.
I am unfamiliar with shipping outside the U.S. I would imagine it is very expensive. Not ruling that out, if anybody has any ideas speak up please.
Wish I’d seen this before my outing this morning when I picked up a Defiant 3D ArmorMax for $14.06. For some reason the HD in my area don’t have any .03 priced items. Rare .04 but no .03. The defiants ware still at .06 price 9 weeks after the markdown.
Incredible as the Home Depot deal is, Fry’s Electronics had an even better 80% off deal last week. I managed to snag an assortment of 6D, 3D, 3D LED, 2AA LED for $5 to $7.90 each.
They also had 80% off deals for Inova and NiteIze.
EDIT: The Fry’s deal did not include batteries, so it is not as good a deal for the incandescent lights. But for the LED lights, the prices were amazing.
This just goes to show how ethereal deals can be. Had I not stopped during my trip and noticed the final markdown of the Mags, I would never have known. They went so fast that they would have seemed to suddenly dissappear. Probably the same for the Fry’s sale.
I get emails from Newegg.com because I signed up for them. Sometimes I get special deal alerts that requite a coupon code that is only good for the customer it was issued to. I can’t, for instance, call up a friend and give him that coupon code so he can get the same price.
A good deal is a good deal, but since I have been on BLF the 2D Mags have gone from 114 Lumen to 134 and the latest HD deal was for the 168 Lumen. I looked at last weeks talk of the Fry’s deal and it seems the 2D LED Mags were 114 Lumen.
Also these deals on the Maglites once again shows that the general public is no longer interested in large, long flashlights. The larger Defiants and Huskys at Home Depot don’t sell well and all seem to eventually go on clearance.
Vestureofblood has a store with very nice aluminum and I think copper heat sinks as well as other items. He’s running a group by on the new xpg3 through the store now.
I have started shipping these out, and still have many more. I got a hold of a lot these. I won’t say how many, but if Old Lumens got them all, he would be busy for a very very long time.
I sent a pm several hours ago inquiring about obtaining one of the black. If available I can send payment in the morning. Too late now for a trip to the bank.
Hang tight guys. I think dchoman has been on a trip. He sent me many different items at his incredible low cost plus shipping and I am very happy with them. What a deal he offered.
