Whats the latest and greatest in the 3535 world to replace some XPLs on an older light? I’m tempted to just go 519a for obvious reasons but this application begs for the best output and a healthy amount of throw. Suggestions?
I would say that for that use the best is currently the Luminus SFT-25R (available in 6500k and 5000k from Convoy)
Another option to consider would be a modern XP-L HI, also available from Convoy
The main problem with retrofitting 519A into some older XP-L lights is that the 519A can’t be direct-driven as safely like some older XP-L could be, so it would be helpful to know what light you’re planning on doing the swap.
I’m really not sure what the drivers they used are but its a Thorfire TD34 (later renamed to S1 I think). It has a 3Px18650 battery configuration.
So it has 4x 18650 in parallel, and 3 XP-L
It should be safe to swap in the SFT-25R as they can take a lot of power without burning out, but I think that 519A would not survive if it’s a FET driver or uses FET for turbo (information is not very clear)
