I have one with the CULPM1.tg, only around 1100 lumens but works really well. Did you get really lucky with the bin of SBT90 or was there something special done to get that much output?
Yesterday at 2 pm. Liionwholesale had 3000 X P45B. Just checked their inventory and they have 1,562 left. Almost half of them are going in just over 21 hours.
I better get mine on monday. They may even be gone .
I’m only getting a few as I got way too many P42A, 40T and 50S.
It’s modified. I mentioned that when I quoted you.
I think he boosted it a little bit and there are bypasses at the tail cap and the head spring. Other touch-ups I can’t remember!
Even without modification it’s still impressive. SBT90.2 is by far my favorite LED .I have it in five different lights. Massive output and very very good throw.
Difference here between model numbers and grading. Waiting on A was just talking about the grading, which is akin to binning like we talk about with emitters and chips. Apparently what was available earliest was P45B Grade B, but it took awhile for Molicell to release the P45B Grade A cells.
This is maybe a little like comparing good A/R coated lenses with a pinkish tint to the more recently asked-for greenish tint - small differences that won’t matter in most situations but can be beneficial in some. Some people will latch on to the concept of “best” and just demand that but of course often that isn’t the whole truth. Our hobby has built up to what it is from incremental gains, however.
Thanks for the explanation. I had seen a few discussions about only the “B” grade being available, and people waiting for the “A” grade to come in. Of course I associated the grade with the letter in the model number. So there is really no way to look at a cell and determine it’s grade?
Yeah, just the bench and performance tests, as Cochise said, but additional valuable information like shelf stability and cycle life/degradation just comes with user experience (I think just…forgive me, can’t recall his user name now, but the guy in Czech republic, is the only one doing long term cycle life tests and such).
From what is being said, the grade A is probably most valuable for those assembling packs and need closer tolerances for voltage, sag, capacity, etc. and probably not much benefit to single-cell users like us.
Unfortunately shipping batteries internationally with USPS is illegal
We’re very stubborn about following the battery shipping laws, even if it’s one like this where nobody ever checks so someone more shady would get away with it.
And at least in the USA, UPS is much better than FedEx, so we use UPS. And it’s not so bad for big shipments as a percent of value. The $40 shipments are where it’s depressing how much the customs costs end up being.
Ya I know
Not trying to take it out on you guys, not your fault that UPS hates Canada. You know they don’t pull this stuff with shipments from Canada back to the US? Just to Canadians. They literally just scam in one direction. Why? I’m pretty sure this is a hate crime lol
Do you supply any Canadian battery distributors ever? You don’t have to the name them, I get the liability of that. Just wondering if there are any…and if so what do they rhyme with lmao
And wouldnt doing the same thing with the free gift you do with UPS air shipping allow you to use USPS ground? Could that ever be a possibility?
We supply a bunch of manufacturers that use cells to build battery packs mostly. Some very small resellers but I don’t think there are any resellers that would sell flashlight relevant batteries.
And no the free gift thing doesn’t help. In the US we’re not allowed to ship batteries by themselves, but can ship them alongside equipment that they operate, so the free gift fixes that. But internationally it can only be a new sealed device with a battery installed in it, otherwise no lithium ion at all.
Wondering why it was said LiIon can’t ship easily in the US as stand alone product?
I get cells often without a problem, ship to and receive from a buddy regularly. Both in lights and outside of lights.
Just got two P45B from Georgia to Texas, USPS, no problem. No exorbitant shipping rates. Have recently ordered and received 40T’s and a separate order of 25S. Misleading to say “Can’t ship cells alone” when it’s done all the time by LiIon Wholesale and 18650 Battery Store as well as others.
When you are shipping or receiving Li-ion cells do they have the proper label on them – I know the package does from Battery retailers and recycle places I purchase from – Battery Hookup has stated the cells have to be below a certain voltage and they have a certain permit ( I think) to ship - I want to sell and do a giveaway of some cells , but I don’t want nothing coming back on me when a plane goes BOOM
Yeah, you can ship anything… LiIon batteries included.
BUT, if you do not declare what is in the package (for restricted items) & label it properly you are skirting the regulations I think.
Yes, I declare it when I ship and place the proper labels. I’ve seen the black and white hazardous materials square used too, usually it’s the LiIon Batteries label.
