Yes probably, since it seems almost everyone sprund for the $30 Ti, brass, and copper versions.
But Not all of us have one.
I still think they look absolutely useless, and refuse to get one. Tail switch, tiny to hold, no magnet for hands free, and no way to attach it to anything(granted that last is probably me only; I never use pocket clips, hang all lights on a dangler/caribiner).
Only light I’ve been Completely not interested in, in years.
Very interesting, but the thread starter ask for the coolest/best FLASHLIGHT (singular). So regardless of the technicalities that you mention (and thanks for that opinion), a list is not what the OP asked for .
Among the things that make the TS10 so perfect for an EDC pocket light, for me anyway.
No fumbling for the switch, disappears in the pocket. Very low modes, plenty of light for use inside, lasts a long time on a charge at sane levels, and yes, even nice Aux lights for those that like them. But, hey, we all like different things. Though it does look like many here do like the light. It has been at the top of the favorites list for what, three years running, now.
The Amutorch XT45 Nb90.16 is probably the coolest flashlight i’ve come across for 2023. It’s not very refined and not much to look at either, and the UI is…adequate, but its a pocket light smaller than a C8 that does an honest to goodness 10,000 Lumens and has a buck driver for linear output of about 1300 Lumens. The throw? 80 kcd for the first 15 seconds. This is pretty outstanding for a light that costs about $60. Its not available anymore so I think that disqualifies it though.
Indeed I plan to buy several TS10 Green as New Year gifts. One drawback: TS10 has no on board charging, and the accompanied 14500 battery has no USB. So I have to buy 14500 battery cells with USB for charging to replace the Wurkkos battery. On Alix Express, the Green is on sale for less than US$15 with battery. Great buy indeed.
I’m really surprised that these don’t ship with one of the cheap single bay usb chargers that they sell… This isn’t the first time I’ve heard this complaint on the TS10. I think Wurrkos has over assumed that enthusiasts are the only ones buying and using these lights.
A lot of bashing of Sofirn lately, but my SP10 Pro came with the little charger, since it is the same, 14500 and no onboard ports.
Surprised to hear it doesn’t come with one now. Mine did, it’s a super basic unbranded one, but I actually still use it often. I figured it was just standard with the TS10.
Luminus is incorporated in the US but it was acquired in 2013 by Sanan Optoelectronics. I believe it has facilities in both China and Taiwan. Most (?) Cree LEDs are also manufactured in China, but often flashlight manufacturers advertise them as “American CREE” LEDs
Did not know that about Cree. “Made in 'merica with globally sourced materials and workforce”
Article from 2009 "LED maker Cree, Inc. has agreed to purchase a 592,000-square-foot facility in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, China, which will be the company’s first chip-production facility outside of North America. "
How have you kept the switch working well? Both of my purples are unreliable. I had to fidget with them every single morning to get a half-day of reliable switch action and eventually gave up.
The three I bought for gifts recently all came with the little USB charging base and cell (all for under $15). As I have a bunch of 14500s, I just added an extra one in each box. I know that people might lose the charger, but I trust the people that I gave them to not do misplace them. Between the charger and extra cell, they should be fine.
Same as all my other FW3A / FW1A lights. After taking it apart once to clean everything and reassemble correctly, I generally don’t encounter any further issues.
However, these lights definitely needed the user to do a lot of things to get a new light working properly. Lumintop really dropped the ball on quality and assembly. For a while, Illumn did all that up-front work before shipping lights to customers, but it became too much of a burden so they stopped carrying the entire product line.
Same. It’s cool, but it’s so overpowered that I’d want to at least reflash the firmware to give it some safer limits before giving one to a new user. Also, I’d want to take it apart and ensure there isn’t any flux on the LEDs or anything like that. And add a charger. And give the person a tutorial on how to care for li-ion batteries. Maybe a new clip.
Added together, I would usually rather just give them something else. Like, a Wurkkos FC13 maybe.
For me it was the copper Convoy T3 with a 3000K 519A. It was the only flashlight that I kept mostly intact for the year. The only mod was that I added a green lighted switch.
I was planning on slicing the 519A, but it was already nice and rosy so I left it as is.
My only complaint is that the low is not low enough with a 14500 to be considered moonlight. But I really like how it looks, has a great clip, good beam, and is plenty bright.
