What’s the best flashlight, (for the money you paid) that you ever bought? 2010
I do not know if fave or coolest or best but I finally broke down and invested in a Malkoff as I like the 21700 form factor and they offered a good sale to introduce the MDX21700 M61 flashlight. I got M61N/No/Crenellated. It is an On/Off tank and should last a lifetime and is just bright enough (400 lumens) for 90% of tasks.
Fireflies X1S Pharos Reflector Version with a SFT-90. Small 21700 light with pretty good throw for a OP reflector, clean beam, wide bright spill. Perfect walking light for me. The SFT-90 is probably my favorite LED right now. But I am looking forward when they come out with a SFT-90 round, and different tints.
I got my current EDC in 2025.
It’s the Convoy M21E with the LHP531 emitter.
That emitter is both reasonably throwy, and quite a bit floody, simultaneously, which is exactly what I was looking for.
this comes up every year.. the title asks for just one, but the body text invites others:
so imo there can be more than one, in different categories.. fanciest, smallest, most rare, most throw, 18650, 14500, 16340, AAA.. and any other categories and or lights you wish to list
at the end all the different models get tallied and the one with the most mentions wins.. so.. I dont expect any of mine to “win” most votes of 2025, but to me they are all winners in their own way
Yes I need to vote for this one as well. (Avaritia A54Ultra 2 v2) It has actually been a slow year for lights here… Well comparatively speaking. Maybe 10 lights, and none of the others really make my “I really like it” list.
If there is an honorable mention class, that T8 SFT-25R 5000K makes that list for me. Great beam, but at the same time, too small and too big. Too small for filling my large ands and too big for easy pocket carry.
I hate to be a copy cat… but I actually got both of those lights due to @cannga suggestions.. Good choices.
Mine’s the Convoy T3 in my new favorite flashlight color, orange. It’s my first decent flashlight I’ve purchased in about 10 years and I’m still impressed by the quality and the output. So much so that I haven’t put it in the Carrington box yet.
D3AA. Probably the most perfect general use light I’ve ever bought. Bright enough for most tasks, efficient enough that the 14500 is enough battery, small enough to get completely lost in a pocket, but oddly enough not too small like the TS10 that is uncomfortably small in my large hands.
If it was just a bit throwier it would be perfect. I had high hopes for the KR1AA, but it seems like it’s not going to end up any better in that regard, although I’ll probably buy one anyway.
I would really like to get one of the Li&Ion capable SC53s. also, that SW45K SC65 looks perfect.
Zebralights intrigue me, even though I’ve never even seen one personally. I had always read that they “were the best” at efficiency on reddit.
Probably I will end up getting an SC65, but the model that I want most is that fat 21700 one that kinda looks like a classic maglite-style body. SC700? I don’t know why, but that one just speaks to me, and lately I’ve only been getting lights that do that. I slowed down on the light-buying A LOT since '22. that, and most of my purchases this year were knives.
