The white thing is probably a matte reflector, but I’m not sure. It is definitely not a Wavien Collar.

Depends. It shortens focal length. Therefore it improves light collection which in turn improves efficiency. But the lenses are uncoated, so another reduces light loss due to reflections, lowering efficiency. The sum of both effects is more output, but a bit less throw. It seems that Xiaomi decided that overall this is an improvement and furthermore - improvement worth its price. With AR coating such doublet would work significantly better though.
