I have a lot to do in this week and I will go to Germany to IWA Outdoor classic so I extend the giveavay some day next week until I find out the other gift flashlight. So one or two week to go and participate.
And If you be kind enough please subscribe my youtube channel and next week you will see videos from IWA. It is not necessary for the giveaway but I will thank you if you subscribe.
I’am back from IWA. And I have a very succesful road trip and I liked it a lot. I will look my lights this week. Choose the second prize and then make the randomizing.
But I wanted to say congrats on the milestones! Also to give this thread a bump. And a lovely prize, that S2+ is… nice form factor, tailcap LEDs, great LED choice, and of course, great firmware choice
My first “real” LED flashlight was the Fenix E25 (the 187 lumen version). It was a gift from my mother, and I thought it was excellent until I learned what “throw” is. Then I spiralled into the BLF world and placed my first order at MtnE: a Convoy C8 host with a 5000K XP-L HI and Qlite. The rest is history!
My most recent purchase should be here soon: my first Emisar, the D1S. To say I’m excited is an understatement. I have a 1mm Flat White and a custom 5A linear driver waiting for it.
Hey, can I participate as well? It’s awesome that you are doing this sort of stuff and congratulations for so many posts there. This is my 30th post so I barely make the requirements. So far I found this forum welcoming, and people are very patient with my newbie questions. I’m not one who you would consider a modding enthusiast, but I’ve just ordered my first batch of emitters (luminus sst-20 in 2700 K high cri variant from Convoy, 10 pcs on 16mm base plates), and I’d like to get into it.
My first proper light was a headlamp from the forum of Bike Magazine Hungary (fellow countryman here) called Hozé light 1.0, it was a non-profit group project in 2008 or so, with 3 Cree Q5 LED-s, which at the time we all thought to be a monster of a light, nowadays with it’s probably 1000 real lumens or it would not hold up, but I used the shit out of it. I’ve been using headlamps well before that, in the halogen era, and I have a couple of 15 Watt halogen headlamps from Sigmasport with awe inspiring runtime of multiples of minutes.
I use all my lights, it’s not only a collection. I have cheap T6 stuff now, by the standards of this forum “old” stuff only, like 16340 lights with a single T6 emitter from Aleto, and a pair of Solarstorm X2 headlamps which are also bargain basement stuff with external 4 x 18650 cell battery pack, this forum would not appreciate them unmodified. But I’m thinking of trying an emitter reflow, it looks really fun, and maybe a low-lumen mod. My latest order was just a cheap Aleto light, 16340 unprotected fits in it:
Yes this is still active until I decide which will be the second light for this giveaway. No I have a few to choose. Maybe it will not be a modded light or I will make one soon. The Amutorch VG10 is still an option. I have one with Nichia led. Not a powerhouse but with 21700 have good runtime.
Ok I choosed the second prize. It will be a Convoy C8 with Osram White flat led. I ordered leds today so it will take a while to make and I have a C8 host with a little dented bezel but I hope someone will be happy with throw and not bother about a little dent. Banggod not doing anything because they said if it works it is OK so…
It will be 4,5A current stacked 7135 driver and around 180-200 kcd. Firmware will be the same as S2+. I will draw the winners in a few days.
Hey Zozz! Congrats and thank you for the great GAW, man!
My last received flashlight was the Astrolux K1. (Very small, cool looking and powerful, but it is not designed very well inside
in terms of thermal path and heat dissipation, if you are not going to mod it, I don’t think it will serve you very long.)
As for my first “serious” flashlight that started all and made me think about flashlights in general and helped me discover BLF, that must be the EagleEye X2R. A great all-rounder with very nice performance and build quality at affordable price. I still think it is one of the best entry-level EDC flashlights out there.
I close now the signing up for this giveaway.
It is a bit strange that only 39 posts for two light giveaway and one with Osram white flat but the joined members have bigger chance
So now I will make the randomizing.
