What did you mod today?

Got up this morning for my daily fix of CRX mods and nothing. Hope he’s ok. :weary:

Aww, that’s nice… Here you go pal. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, I couldn’t believe how incredibly easy this was to do. I used Drano Professional Strength Crystals that I purchased from Lowes. Used safety glasses and latex gloves. Wasn’t sure what to wear, so I put on my welding jacket. Had one plastic bowel with warm water and a plastic bucket filled with cold water for rinsing. I mixed maybe 1/2 cup of crystals into the warm water and dipped my first piece in using a wire hanger. I don’t think any piece took more than 30 seconds. I all just melted right off in a matter of seconds. I used the toothbrush to get in between the cooling fins, but only in a few spots. It really was this easy. I think setting up took more time. Unfortunately, this project won’t be done for another month since I am waiting for parts from various vendors to light the tailcap. Am also going to attempt to place a colored led under the triple optics.

Planning on polishing several spots as well.

Convoy M2 Quad XP-L HI V2 5A2 18 AWG Mtn Fet+1 Bistro 13.4A on tail with DMM

I’ve got an M2 with quad 219c. It’s a burner for sure

it was a miserable build… I’m tired and listed the wrong emitters. I used the XP-L HI V2 5A2 on a Tpad Quad.
Parts didn’t fit. Could not get the copper pill to seat on the shelf and had to reduce the size of the copper at the shelf and the upper lip. Lip was too large and hit the side walls if the head. Once I got it to sit on the shelf the stack (copper, Tpad and optic) was too short to meet the top of the brass ring. Had to use a copper 20mm MCPCB stripped to bare copper as a shim, under Tpad, to get the optic to the same level as the brass ring. Oh yeah, Brass ring did not fit onto the head at all. Had to reduce the OD of that too AND the ring is about 1/2 as thick now. Bought 3 kits and all have the same issues. First and last M2 Quad.

Were these the kits from russia?

yeah

I suggest doing a mock-up before getting to excited about that. I was really pumped to put a red XP-E on the center pad of the XP32 Noctigon under the Cute3 optics, but not after I tried it. It looks sweet as some kind of backlight, glowing just for fun. But it was totally unusable as a beam. The light comes out in a weird psychedelic pattern.

I don’t have an M2, but I recall reading on RMM’s page that the one he sells is a revised edition. Is there any change between “older” and “newer” that could account for the issues?

Or could the kit have actually been one of the M1 kits?
The old M2 had a brass screw in pill. I think it took a 20” driver.
I think the new ones have an integrated pill.

No idea. I bought 2 as empty hosts and have my first one I got direct from Simon. All are less than 3 months old. All 3 of mine are the FLAT Black finish which I think is even newer than Mtn’s description (glossy black). Some pics on the FS page clearly show a M2 head with a shelf.

Ah, it’s actually going to be a backlight just like the tailcap. Very dim. I decided not to polish the optics either as I think it will blend the backlight more. I can’t think of a way to disable it when I turn the light on like the tailcap light, so it will most likely always be on. Going to go straight up to the Noctigon from the driver using a bleeder resistor.

Did some digging and found a 4th M2 host I didn’t know I had. I think I got it from MtnE and it is the glossy finish. Guess what? Parts fit that one. Also noticed the Flat finish ones have TM (trademark) after the Convoy name.
Guess there is gonna be one more M2 Quad in the future. Although I am not as fond of the glossy finish.

Does it also have an integrated head?

Yes, all 4 M2’s I have are the newer ones with integrated emitter shelf.

Did ya get the S15R sorted PD?

Interesting. I didn’t know there were 3 versions of M2. I thought all the newer ones had the ultra-flat finish.

Yes, the S15R got sorted. It turns out it was lined up correctly, but wasn’t making contact because I either lost or broke a small piece. I replaced that piece with a scrap of plexi and all it well

The taper inside head of the flat black is smaller ID. Glossy head was hogged out more. Brass rings also fit the glossy. Odd too, but the OAL of the Flat is about 3mm longer. That was a quick look… haven’t checked if all parts swap. Glad I didn’t find the glossy earlier. Love the Flat black. HMMM, maybe the Glossy won’t be Black… but still glossy. :+1:

Are you sure you have used M2 kit? I suppose you has confused it with M1 X5.
M2 kit is very user-friendly, the most simple mod that can be done with quad.

You should have 3 of them, all were tested by putting inside new M2 from banggood.
P.S. I have met you post by accidental, it is better to contact me via PM if any problems, if there is my fault I always try to fix it and if I will know about it earlier less members will met this problems.
Upd. I can believe that different hosts can have different internal diameters, but I`m sure that all hosts have same reflector. This means same height from pcb shelf to stock glass lens and same spacer height. So, if your host is different, you could met with problems due other host IDs. But if you are saying that you have met problems with height, I can only suppose that you have mixed some parts and used some other spacer.

Continue reading the posts after your quote from myself.
Also I ordered the M2 kits from you and installed it into an M2. I had thought I may have been sent an M1 by mistake but checking the FS I realized I should have the M2 in hand.
Described in the further discussion here, I have realized there are differences in the Last version of the M2 which is Flat Black.
You may want to acquire the latest version M2 host.
