Boy oh boy. :person_facepalming:
Where to beginā¦ I guess there was a mix-up.
They shouldnāt have gone to BG yet but since they did it looks like Simon is listing them too.
As far as I know the āofficial versionā with the Biscotti driver and stainless switch is still in the works. Iāll post more details when I get them from Simon.
Not your bad at all. You probably did read that and it may have even been me who said it. That was the original plan. Several attempts at getting the coating right went wrong. It proved to be a real pain. I thought these clear ones werenāt going to be sold with the black switch because the black coating wasnāt tough enough. These may be just fine though. I believe the black steel switch is PVD coated but I donāt think itās stainless. The coating is being improved though because weāre using the black metal switch on the Desert Tam S2+. I wonāt know exactly what these are until I get clarification from Simon. Stay tunedā¦
Iām not in the loop, but last I heard (quite a while ago), Simon was trying to figure out why biscotti didnāt work right with a lighted tailcap. So I passed along some information about how the tail works, the offtime measurement, and the need for a bleeder resistor, and ā¦ hopefully it helped.
But until thereās confirmation one way or another, be aware that thereās a chance it could have an old 3/5-mode driver. And it may or may not have a lighted tail, which is honestly kind of pointless with the black steel switch blocking 99% of the light. So, there may be good reasons to wait for clarification from Simon.
No word on hosts at this time. I would change this from a poll to a thread if it were possible but as far as I know it isnāt. Anyone who knows otherwise please let me knowā¦
J-Dub can you kindly ask Simon to sell stainless buttons separately? I got my Clear S2+ today. And it has the black button but started to fade and seeing out the metal color under black coating after half day of use. I better like it with the matching silver button.
Thank you!
Iāve made the request and Iāll keep you posted. Some of this first run of the black switches has the issue you described with the black coating being either too thin or not cured properly. Not all but at least some will have this issue unfortunately. The black metal switch should be much improved in the next run which will be used on the desert tan model. If you bought this one from Simonās store you can send him a message there for your one light if you want a quicker fix but Iām doing what I can to resolve the bigger picture issue. Hopefully all will be well with the next run. Thanks for letting me know.
