I agree Boaz, over are the days of flashlights with obvious design flaws, terrible PWM and bad user interfaces, thanks to what happened on BLF over the last years, for the same budget we can have extremely nice lights. I just finished a triple C8 build with a driver (made by Lexel, but MountainElectr. makes similar drivers) that has the same user interface as the Q8 (NarsilM, one version further down the road) and I’m delighted to have that user-friendliness in a smaller light as well I do not think I can go back to the old days of bad mode spacing, PWM and strobe/SOS in the main sequence, anu light that has that will be re-build or simply not bought in the first place.
Ah i would have LOVED if my Q8 came with a candle light mode! thats so neat!
im not a flasher (gulp) so i wouldnt even know where to begin. I know what i would do if i was tho: i would put colored cups on it as diffusers and….well……look at it? Good enough excuse for me!
Is there any link to order the kit?
I have some complaints from a friend I bought the flashlight, but I can not communicate with him often, and prefer to have a spare set.
Hello guys, i just received mine, ordered @ Banggood 24/01/2018, the light came with 1.0 firmware.
This light is absolutely amazing! A big thumbs up to the team who designed this, it is really impressive for a low budget flashlight.
The Narsil firmware is a bit overwhelming at the beginning, but after some times reading the manual, some diagrams, reviews here and there, you can manage it pretty well and it offer you so much configurations possibilities, and even with the out of the box configuration the light work like a charm, just excellent.
This is my first beer can sized flashlight and i'm really happy with my Blf Q8, so thanks to all the peoples who made this flashlight project a reality.
Well made, good quality, solid.
(coyote brown, ranger green, khaki)
The only “drawback” is the additional strap bands on both sides that will be catched by the tailcap of the flashlight depending how much it protrudes from the batteries tube.
The Q8’s tailcap catches them a bit (not a straight/direct pull), the MF01 barely.
Hi Teacher. The above link shows Everett’s latest version of his MELD firmware. It may look a bit confusing Everett is our resident genius. When I first saw his firmware in a flashlight, I had to have it. So I had him custom build me an Olight S10 Baton with R,G,B,W, and UV emitters. Yes, that’s 5 emitters in that tiny light. And of course his firmware, the greatest UI of all time in my opinion. Hard to use anything else, but I also love Narsil. You can do a search for his MELD in our Forum or click on his name and search his threads. He has made some amazing videos of some of his flashlight builds. He loves TINY stuff. Hope u enjoy the video, it can be a bit confusing. And NO, I Will never sell my custom S10!
